Mass of convection about to hit the Cumbria coast.

25c broken here for the first time this year too. It's not unusual, but I'm sure it's earlier than recent years. Way above the forecast 22c but no complaints here. The sky is rapidly filling from the south, and I'm sure some of us will have an interesting evening weather wise.

 Scuba steve Yes reminds me of being a kid playing on the local rec hearing that first distant rumble, wind picks up, look to the SW and threatening dark clouds, make a run for home as the heavens open..

On the way back. Lightning still too far west for me in Wigan but it's getting there.

 PennineMark Yeah if we can reach 25c in the middle of April back in 2003 then 25c isn't all that impressive approaching the middle of May these days. 30c would be though. I think we've had such a poor spell of weather that what we have now seems like it.

Plenty thunder here, some lightning but it seems to be higher up in the clouds so not a great visual display

First rumble heard here, seems a distance away though. Hopefully I'm not going to be too far east this evening, be nice to have a direct hit

Looks like the bog standard rain is approaching here with the cells either side. Always the way.

Sky has gone very dark to my South and West, hopefully we can squeeze at least a passing storm.

Waiting in North Cumbria and hoping the forecast was wrong (was never due any thunder).  At least it will rain and anything more will be a bonus.
