Yes, it does seem to have slowed down at touch as we get nearer which is great.

Looking very good for west of the region and away from the Manchester conurbation. 👍👍

Fingers crossed for you all.

As you’d expect at this range, GFS isn’t picking up on the shield effect (the high res will do).

Been a while since we’ve seen such a widespread snow event forecast at close range. Looks good.

My late father said of snow “Keep it on the Hills” ironically the vast majority of his 95 years where we live it exactly was 🙂👍🏻

Morning all.

Nice and calm in our thread.

We can cope with whatever falls from the sky weather wise.

I'll be dipping in and out of the thread as I've suddenly become a decorator. I'm using one colour and that's white.

Come Thursday, outside might match the inside.

The second pulse has definitely shifted south for Friday, some areas could actually see 2 days of snowfall.

The Met Apps for here which started at 11c for Thurs a few days back have gone 11,9,7,5,3 and the latest is now 2 with snow symbols instead of sleet, a sign the mild air might not push through as quick as the models have been predicting.

I'd be surprised if some amber warnings for higher areas didn't appear this morning (for Thurs).

A poor start to the day, wet and blowy already, and worse to come during the day before the system clears away to the south leaving us in much colder conditions. My ancient barometer dial has shifted left markedly, reflecting the coming of the low pressure system. Tomorrow looks better but after that ....

 Spah1

The text to go with it.

Reason for update

Warning extended to cover Northern Ireland while the southern boundary has been moved north. Start and end times adjusted.

A band of rain, sleet, and increasingly snow, will push north on Thursday bringing up to 2cm snow at lower-levels, 2-5cm on ground above 200m, and perhaps as much as 15-25cm above 400m, along with a risk of some icy conditions. The snow will ease later in the day, and may turn back to rain or drizzle, especially in the south and east of the area. There is some uncertainty with respect to the rain/snow boundary, and the northern limit of the snow, and so details may change in the coming days as confidence increases in these aspects.

The bold bit is bound to upgrade to amber tomorrow.

Tis a bit windy here too.  11°C and rain.  Within 48 hours now of potential snow fall for here, at 150m asl and possibly in a void/shield how much this location sees is a nowcast.  Fortunately I will not have far to go to find it or watch it fall on the tops.  It's all good fun watching and waiting, I hope every single one of us gets what they are waiting for 🙂😁

Amber down the spine of the country.

Amazing how the warning area includes the Fylde.

I’ll be in Kirkham watching it rain 😃

Hmmmm, the very latest run in the Arpege has slowed the front down by quite a bit.

0z on the left.

The bulk of the snow stays in the Midlands and Wales, surely this cannot be happening again. The front has stalled.

 Thunder Snow

Well according to the latest Arpege, nothing mate as the bulk of the snow is now struggling to reach Manchester. Horrible feeling about this now, starting to feel like a few years back when it corrected south 20-40 hours out.

Fizzles out over us...

Well my stress is starting to reach boiling point already. Looks like I could be in for a rough ride on Thursday morning. My flight is at 0810 over to Dublin, and it looks like very strong winds there too. I never have an easy time travelling. I don't go away often and every time I do, the weather wreaks havoc.

But today is grim, very very heavy rain here in Oldham, where I am today, and looks to be here for the day.

If the Arpege is right Exeters new warning is wrong, 1 hour after release.

I’ll stick with the MO 💪
