Radar still suggesting darker blues and greens around here - there's absolutely nothing in the air at all, rain, sleet or snow😂

Agree it is disappointing, but I guess the models and MetO had backed away from any warning scenario few days ago. So no surprise.

Germany for example will see a fair chunk with 5-15cm snow, up to 30-40cm in places😭😭

Not a drop of anything in the air on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It was a clutching at straws scenario and the majority of models did eventually show the precipitation just to the south of us. But wtf! I could probably stand at the viewpoint up the road and see it snowing out at sea 😅

I reckon you’d have to go at least 50miles offshore to find where the precip is actually reaching the ground.

You actually can’t make this up and if you’d said this would actually happen in the model thread 5days ago you’d have been laughed off the site!

Conditions would have been perfect with this 50miles further north. No way there’s a better setup for this locations this year.

Sadly this is becoming an annual event. How many times have we seen a potential major snowfall miss the south coast by 20 miles? Got to be 4 or 5 times in recent years. So much want my kids to see a proper snowfall without having to go to Lapland!

Potentially a bit over cautious but if convection off the sea takes off there can be some interesting conditions in your neck of the woods.  The wording mainly mentions west and north wales.

Looks like its due to a convergence zone in the Irish sea.......

The snow in France has been a snow to rain event, think i would prefer the outcome we have just had........

Interesting, can't see too much on the Met office rader in the coming hours and what not.

Looking at the Beeb earlier, their graphics indicated precipitation overnight tonight and in to tomorrow. Keeping everything crossed for you!

Seems as though we are back to the overcast solution today, after an overnight low of -0.9°C at: 01:16 (well dome MetO for your accuracy!), currently 1.9°C, RH82%, and light air movement from the E.

Good riddance to storm Irene for not having the decency to pay us snow-starved southerners a visit.... Rude, just damn rude... 😖

I can confirm that Portsmouth hasn’t had 1 flake even though the radar says it’s snow..

Ahh well, it looks like for those that want snow, you’ll have to join the mid Feb Scandi high chase that’s starting up in the MOD thread.  Another cold couple of days coming up (probably the coldest of the week) before things turn milder and stormier for the weekend.

The MetO have a very early wind advisory out for Sunday already;

Back to normal service soon.  Make the most of the next couple of days if you have outdoor envisions.
