mike57 Yes, that's what I heard. We had a hail storm on the moors at 9am and it then stayed dry but bitterly cold until 3pm when it unexpectedly rained really hard. The sun came out later and it has actually been a nice evening, with the cold wind dropping right off on the NY coast. Alas, it seems we may be getting showers from a feature from the North Sea early tomorrow which may stick around until late morning. I do not normally say it, but I am actually glad that I shall be heading back to Cheshire later tomorrow.

We had a hail shower about 8.15 as i was driving to work, short and sharp, snow/sleet showers up at cropton forest first thing according to reports, it really needs to warm up, log burner lit again tonight with it being 2°c outside currently.

3 hail showers this afternoon but plenty of sunshine in between. A ‘proper’ April showers day looking from the inside out, enough to lift the spirits….barely keeping about 5/6c though so still feeling like February when out in it. I’m still wearing my full winter kit when dog walking!

I seldom say 'I'm glad to be going home' but this was one such occasion. In all my time coming to the NY coast and moors, I've seldom felt so cold and yes, I am well aware of how cold the area can be at this time of the year, given how cold the North Sea is. Yesterday morning, the forecast showers arrived at 8am and, although it brightened up later, the wind was bitingly cold. Back home this morning, it is a beautiful start to the day and no wind to peg the temperatures later on. I'll be back in NY in a couple of weeks.

It went down to 0.7C last night here. The plant trays all went into the shed and conservatory They are getting a bit leggy they need to go into the ground. These cold nights keep turning up.It needs to stop raining a bit too.The ground needs to dry out and warm up.  0 C forcast for tonight. Will it be the last one ? I wouldn't bet on it.

What a strange day. Got to 0.7° last night and took its sweet time warming up. Fast forward to lunch time and it gets to 11.9°, lovely in the sun, warm relative to what we're used to. It even reached 9 on the UV index.

Then by 3pm it's dropped to 6°, and constant rain for the next 4 hours. 12.8mm in total, mostly isolated to my general area. Tipped it down for a time. Probably the humber estuary causing trouble with its convergence, as the wind changed direction to the east. It even caused a funnel cloud in May last year! This crazy weather isn't any good for my plants either, can't wait to get the veggies transplanted but this incoming plume seems short lived.

After the 'moody' carp this morning, the afternoon was mostly sunny but the ruddy breeze took the edge off temps again 🙄, currently 2°c, another chilly evening ahead.

Wold Topper I was helping my sister in law move yesterday, fortunately the showers managed to miss Hull while loading and miss Brid while offloading. Based on recent weather it could have been a lot worse. A very heavy shower towards Driffield and a bright rainbow, but couldn't get a pic. Dry in Beverley and at home.

Absolutely bucketing down this morning at the coast, cold wet and windy. We are having usual Sunday breakfast in Brid and all the old flood spots are reappearing.

Well everywhere is flooded again... seems like back to square one! We need some serious warm up and dry weather otherwise the land is going to remain saturated until Mid-summer at this rate.

Looking at MetO figures it looks like 25mm+ rain fell yesterday over a large part of eastern England. I assume we are on course for a wetter than average month again.

Today is better, just that the wind is a pain again, making lunchtime ride difficult. Wind S force 5-7, temps 12C and partly cloudy. Everywhere is now looking waterlogged after drying up a bit last week.

Despite the vile weather we still had 65 tractors turn out yesterday morning for the charity road run, there was heck of alot of standing water on the country lane but we had a good day and raised some for money for Yorkshire air ambulance,

A bit wet in the field at the start,

Case international for me as usual,

Wet outlook from the cab.

My first run on the tractor this year - what a day 💦💦💦💦…very wet in places indeed, but loved it nonetheless. Rain lasted far longer than expected but run was still a success 👍🏼👍🏼.
Nice to see the sun today & although a strong breeze mid afternoon it was so much milder today…what a difference a day makes 😏

First 20c of the year for me.  Felt a lot warmer in the urban heat island in town; it probably was with the sun being out all day. Also saw some distant lenticular clouds from the M62, now mostly shallow convective clouds. That makes 203 days since my weather station last recorded 20c, feels like the first "Summer" weather in so long.

Last couple of days have been better, dry, and after a lot of early cloud today its turned out sunny. There is still a nagging on shore NE breeze that has kept it cooler today, but still pleasant.

Lunchtime brought 12C with a backing SE wind force 3-4, and partly cloudy. Cloud now gone and sun properly out, its also warmed up a couple more degrees

Again today the wind was a pain, force 4-5 N, not the worst direction for my bike ride, but still annoying.

Starting to dry up again after Sundays rain, and quite a bit of sun which has been hazy at times. 12C at lunchtime
