Snow lying on pitch at the moment,

 

don’t worry though, met office again* saying snow will only accumulate above 250-300 metres. I have no idea why they always underestimate low lying snowfall

The second surprise snowfall of the month with 4.5cm so far - easily best frontal snowfall event since 2018.

Predictably we'll not even scrape a brief dusting from this. Wet baws at play already. Started settling but within 5 mins it's already turned to a slushy wet mess

A little covering here but the heaviest of the band quickly passed so nothing of note for me.

Either need to be a little further north or have more elevation!

Looking good for those through the central belt for a little while anyway.

Radar shows the difference within 5mins quite nicely!

Traffic across the area with no warnings.... Good few accidents reported now.

The air temp is -0.6deg/c, the ground temp is reading -3.5deg/C and the cloud layer is -8.5deg/C so anything falling as snow should stick.

As for the radar its just all fragmented in the last ten minutes with Fife now covered by a big blob of sleety pish...its currently dry here so we'll just have to wait and see what comes.

Interesting to see the usual fkup from the MetO issuing useless yellow warnings everywhere except in the places where impacts have already started.

Could we have a Scottish Met Office please? Or really just a competent UK MO would be a start.

Quite a memorable event with 6.5-7cm - this could have been an amber warning let alone yellow.  The Met office are lucky today is a Saturday during the holidays.

radar says we should have something but currently dry and you guessed it……. Incredibly windy.

Been chucking it down since 10:30. Good few inches at sea level… top of town absolutely thick with snow!!

Best snow here is from Easterlies.

Shame it won’t last though
