Hmmm...looking at the Beeb pressure chart its showing something interesting, after the main snow event passes through another blob comes in from the north west into Fife later in the evening...well we'll just have to wait and see.

For those thermometer lovers out there...

Air temp reading...Traceable dual reading thermometer, sensor tied to the outside tap.

Ground temp reading...Fluke 62Max++ infrared thermometer.

Looks a completely unpredictable event, as these so often are. This might be mainly disappointment for the central belt but now something is showing on the models for Thursday night👀 And another feature for the North East tomorrow.

Deeply disappointing so far this morning, snow missing to the south, radar doesn't look like it's hitting here anytime soon either. Even the UKV 3z is way off.  🤞 we get some later today.

Overnight low of -6.2c at 5.35am then temperature seemed to jump to -4.5c within minutes (cloud cover maybe?). Fell back to -4.9c and now rising again, currently -4.6c (DP low -7.0c, now -5.6c). Not yet opened the curtains so no idea if anything fell overnight. Came home over the Slug road last night which was drivable so will attempt it again this morning.

Low of -3.7C overnight, currently -2.8C. A quick look outside suggests no additional snow, as expected. Might get some more later today, but forecasts vary, especially with the timing.

Think it was 11th Feb 2021 Alford recorded -23.3 in the morning.. @Sceptical would know best as he is always the one with the car dashboard pictures when its cold..

That's correct although the car, was showing around -25c. The Met takes temperature measurements at 1.5 meters, while typically a cars RTD is around 300mm. That mostly explains the difference.

The coldest UK temperature I've seen was back on the 4th January 2010. The car was showing-25.6c at Whitehouse Alford.

Total non-event as predicted this morning. Charts don't look great for later either locally. Unless something changes dramatically this is yet another rubbish cold spell and it isn't even that cold at -1c 🫣🤣

Looking like a bust at the moment.... But UKV (just about makes it to glagsow area) and met office (text) going for snow mid morning getting heavier so we could still be OK...but as mentioned earlier even the early morning modelling is off a bit so who knows.

More concerned with the low forecast for Sunday,  could bring exceptional windy period. One to watch

Precip is intensifying around the skye area and a few showers building into Ayrshire now so I wouldn't give up yet.

Noticed that, XC Weather, so GFS has 70mph+ gusts for us on Sunday. Other forecasts currently much less, so maybe GFS just 'gone off on one' again, especially at that range.

Morning all. Currently -3.5°C in Dalwhinnie after a low of -8.4°C. A few light snow showers in the area overnight topping up the snow a bit. Area of precip lurking out to the west at the moment one to watch, fingers crossed for a good dumping later on.

Plenty of stuff piling in on radar, pity that first band tracked further south - hopefully this other 'blob' makes up for it during today..

Weirdly the met office forecast for here has gone from no snow this morning and light snow later to this.
