The way the flight is climbing it’s off somewhere else. Up to 13,000 feet as I type

View flight EI553 from Lyon to Dublin on Flightradar24

Looks like it attempted the N/S runway but had to go around!

Just been watching that. They’ve tried to land twice now.

Looks like fr509 eventually got down at Belfast international on north south runway. That’d have been a nasty one.

Shannon maybe, but surely flying towards the storm!

Maybe less of a crosswind.

Must be a fuel emergency flight by now

A few other flights diverting to Belfast as well.

Belfast has actually cancelled all flights so these diversions are cutting it fine before the worst winds reach here.

It's normally a 2 hour flight and they're now approaching 4 hours in the air.

Words could not describe how happy I am not to be on that plane.

GFS saying 102kph gusts for Cardiff, wildly out of line with the other models.

Latest METAR says gusting 36kts (67kph).

If you have any ice stick it in the fridge if the power goes, that will help it stay cool longer

Very quiet around Liverpool,  I think we'll be pretty sheltered compared to most

Thank you sweetie x

Looks like another Dublin bound flight from Gatwick also heading west towards Shannon

Currently gusting 70mph plus in Shannon so they must be confident of a headwind with a low crosswind element.

Any idea what I can expect I now live in the Outer Hebrides since 2021. But I had a flood warning on an app never had one since I’ve moved here. Strongest storm was my first year 111mph winds but this storm coincides with high tides and the Atlantic is basically on my doorstep on the northwest of Isle of Lewis in Garenin.

I checked as the storm not properly arrived here yet it’s windy but not here till later tonight. Waves it says up to 5.8 meters. I put a few images and my location marked.

nice to be back here I missed this place 😊

Dont think ive ever seen the meto talk up tornado potential...

from sky news channel;

20240121_183603.thumb.jpg.7c3fc2281fb2379cad08f87624e38843.jpg

Website: A tornado could hit western parts of the UK, the Met Office has said.

A "tornado watch" zone was issued for Northern Ireland, as well as parts of Scotland and northern England by the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation this afternoon.

It means a "strong tornado" is possible in those regions.

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: "There is a potential that we could see the odd isolated tornado largely tied in with the squally cold front mainly in western parts of the UK on Sunday evening.

"They can cause some significant damage but often on a very localised scale, they often don't tend to last very long."

I mentioned other day on social media that South Yorkshire doesn't do too bad when wind is from South West, it always seems to be worst when its a straight Westerly, possibly winds coming through valleys to west and speeding up as it runs down into our area.
