The Post-exam Wind-down

Well, I'm having a reasonably relaxing time at the moment- went out yesterday and did some food shopping, but got a bit sunburnt- it's another gloriously sunny day in Lancaster again today!I've got a conditional offer for the Leeds MRes course, but I need a 2-1 for it, so it's a case of 'waiting with baited breath' for the exam results to come out, apparently on or around the time of my 21st birthday (present or shock!? We'll have to see!)Will be going down to the Blackpool area this weekend to

G8.....

Well...I'm having a 'hurumph' day! Am utterly sick of hearing Bob 'self promotion' Geldof banging on about what we can all do to save the world...Grrrr!!! It's all so two faced...where is Mr Geldof with his four or five huge companies...don't see him reigning in too much do you? And I have to feel sorry for the hundreds of Make Poverty History Organisations who have been hijacked by Geldof and his lunacy....The message was being got across slowly but surely, but now it's all about whether the Sp

Chocolate

For those of you who know a bit about me, you will know that I am a bit of a chocoholic At my old office I was in a room with a load of people who just used to gently rib me about eating choccy all day but now I sit opposite my boss. My boss being female, 2 years younger than me and about size 6. She eats salad and diet yoghurt  So everytime I reach for a choccy biscuit or worse, packet of crisps she gives me a disaproving look Don't get me wrong, I don't just shovel c*** into my

Ken Ring

Here we go, I think...I'm still trying to make sense out of Ring's extraordinary claims:Despite his inability to understand basic science, he makes sweeping claims and statements which seem to be plucked out of thin air...As things stand just now, I'm even more convinced that his ideas are bogus...

Grey Day

Well what a grey day :o I was hoping to go to the coast with little fella today but it's raining. I was also considering going to see my Grandma but my mum is going and as I spent yesterday with her, I don't think I could cope with another day.Don't get me wrong, my mum is nice but she's very loud and ignores everything I say and just talks about "her" all the time. It can take me a day or so to calm down after a visit  She lent me her House Doctor books so I can sort our house out, whi

Short Week !

Oh I do like having a short week, it's only 3 days to the weekend now :o Managed to organise going to London to see my brother in July, so well happy about that Little fella is much better, bouncing about like a usual 3 year old  I'm also planning to take a couple of days off in June to have a bit of fun with him. I might go to the Magna Centre near Sheffield, which is a sort of hands on science place. Never been before but sounds like fun Hubbie has his exams next week at Durham so

Quarantine

Well litle fella is spotty but full of energy now. I think the antibiotics have taken affect on his toncilitus.Problem now is that he is still infectious until all his spots scab over. Problem is I was wanting to get him out of the house to allow hubbie to do some revision for his exams. Now where can we go, on a bank holiday weekend, where there will not be many people around to infect  Not many It the wind calms down we might go and watch the gliders on the top of White Horse Bank an

Today

Ok, ok. Can you all stop pestering me for another entry now?Played tennis tonight in the first round of the Men's singles. I lost. I just couldn't get my serve going - I couldn't toss as well as I normally do. Practice makes perfect though.Nice to see the Pope making an appearance on the forum. All we've had up to now has been a few queens.I have undying love for Flagpole by the way.

Mini-roo.....

Hehehehehehe! Had my scan today! Wow! I am so amazed..... :o Mini-Roo didn't want to play ball at first and spent the first five minutes fast asleep in a tight ball, before being prodded awake by the scanning lady!He (suddenly I want to call it he? Hmmmmmmmm) then proceeded to give a big stretch and splayed all it's little fingers and toes.....LOVELY!!! Anyways, two legs two arms and a strong heartbeat, so all is as good as can be expected..... It was such an amazing experience, I

Bank Holiday Break

Well I've managed to get Thursday and Friday off this week, so nice long weekend Unfortunately little fella has come down with a bug, resulting in me having to go and collect him at lunchtime. He had a temperature of 102F, so off to bed. He woke up, bouncing about and we went for a little walk. Later he flopped on the sofa, watching TV (very unlike him) and then demanded to go to bed at 6pm  When I took his temperature it had shot up to 104F :o I've been lucky, as he has rarely been i

Exams Are Over!

At long last- after one hell of a work period- I may not have revised a great deal over Easter, but I certainly had to work my socks off these last three weeks!Of the 9 exams (in 3 weeks), five went well, three were decidedly 'iffy' and the remaining one was in-between. Now all that awaits is whether I did enough to get a 2-1 or above...Going to chill out this evening by going out with the crowd from Chaplaincy to see the new Starwars film, A New Hope- then I can add my opinion to the glut of v

Nice Day...

well last night and today I felt mini-roo move for the first definite time.....just the slightest flutter, but definitely a movement: went on for quite a bit too, I think I jiggled him/her up a bit whilst I was making the bed last night...Had been wondering whether I'd felt it before, but this time was for sure...even Mr Roo could feel it too....It's very exciting... :DAm maybe off to watch a re-enactment of the Battle of St. Albans today (depends if it rains or not) but that should be fun too,

Relaxing Day

Had a lovely start to the day, nice and sunny, got the washing out early - 7.15am :o Went swimming with little fella, which was packed with parents wanting to watch the football this afternoon I guess. Little fella slipped when getting changed and bashed his head on the floor, he's so accident prone I can't think where he gets it from I tried on some "trendy" clothes today (not really my thing) little fella said "you look like a Princess" but to be honest I felt like someone had superempose

Light At The End Of The Tunnel?

Well silly hours were stretched to the extreme yesterday. Started at 7.25am and at 7.45pm I was asked "what can I do to help you?" Carry my bag to my car? Hopefully tomorrow is the final day for working these stupid hours and I will refuse to work them in future

Exams And More Exams!

A bit of a hectic period recently- with 9 exams in 3 weeks! Last week was particularly tough with 4 exams, this week has 3 and next week has 2, so it does get progressively less difficult.Spare time was difficult to come by last week, but I made sure I had at least a couple of hours per day free for relaxation and recreation. With four exams, it was vital to get the preparation done. Doing Environmental Mathematics, I have had a mix of both Environmental Science and Mathematics exams, the ES

Lovely...

What a wonderful weekend that was....well, what a wonderful weekend yesterday was!Went for an afternoon out to Dunstable Downs...weather was scorching. The great thing about the downs is that there's a gliding school at the foot of the hill, so you can get an icecream, and settle yourself down and watch gliders all afternoon....Really therapeutic to see these huge metal beasts gliding noiselessly across the sky...excellent! It's alo odd to watch them be winched up into the sky (or towed by plane

Ridiculous!!!

Again I have been working silly hours this week, over 65 hours not including the stuff I brought home. I had to go into work yesterday and I am not very happy about it. On top of that we are moving offices next week, so another busy week.Hopefully things should calm down in the next week or so. Hubbie may have to go out to South Africa, so it will have to.Going to take a few odd days off and spend some quality time with my son who has been missing me recently. Although he has done very well and

Very Long Time...

well, it's absolutely ages since I last wrote this, so I thought I'd better do a bit of catching up....so what has happened? Well, I had my first midwife's visit, which went very well (lovely woman...great fun, and not at all patronising!), had parents down for a visit (lovely to see them), did lots more work for the archaeology lot I work for, did some stuff for Andrew and the web site, didn't find a house to live in (oh well!),.....oooooo and we got a car! It's very old (11 years) and belonged

Saturday

Hurrah! The weekend is hereMega busy again this week, didn't leave work until after 6.30pm last night but managed to avoid having to go in today, so it was worth the extra effort The weather is dry and sunny, if a little windy so I think I better get out and start mowing the lawn soon (it seriously needs a hair cut - as I do)Although I may get hubbie to do it because my kidney has started to grumble again and I don't want to be unable to work next week. I think the stress of work has contribut

Today

Letting Mrs OON have a lie in this morning for perhaps the second time in her life, but I don't want any thanks. Although having to watch Razzle Dazzle isn't how I pictured my Saturday mornings when I was younger. I always thought I'd hop out of bad in my luxury city-centre loft conversion, put on some wacky-coloured Boden trousers, take my Halifax cash-point card to the machine in the recently converted dock area and take the resultant cash to a trendy coffee bar where they even sell "Kiddys' C

Today

Alone tonight looking after my brood. Mrs OON's gone out pursuing what I can only imagine is a new found love of acting as I saw a text message on her phone from a gentlemen friend which said "Am holding a small part for you which I think you can make big". Nice to see her enjoying herself.

Won at tennis last night - 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the first and 6-3, 6-3 in the second. Think the secret was I was a combination of being the only player not technically blind and wearing my lucky Ipswich Town 1981 Uefa Cup winning top (which, for the purists out there, is predominantly white)Don't have any kids on a Wednesday as the two pre-schoolers go to nursery for the day. So I was all excited when Mrs OON suggested this morning that we get my flexible friend out and use it until it could take no
