Raining heavily last night at 11pm. Stopped now but a lot of surface water around and actually quite glad it's not snow and ice as I have to pick up my new car shortly. A bit misty and damp but calm and certainly not cold.

Dry now and signs of it brightening up. Quite a bit of flooding on the roads as I went to collect my new car, but both the old car and the new one coped with the water and many potholes on the roads. After 17 years, the Satnav and lack of handbrake and key in the ignition are going to get a bit of getting used to. A personalised number plate, but only because my first name begins with 'M' which is also the first letter of cars registered to the south of Manchester, so nothing extra to pay!

Back up at Fitton Hill for the pickup.

Dry, grey and murky especially over the hills.

Radar hints at yet more rain soon. Itd already over my house back home.

Edit- Heavy rain has arrived.

Cheshire Freeze I couldn't have put it better myself! I thought we'd seen the last of today's rain this morning, but it restarted at lunchtime and has been on and off ever since. However rain has just stopped again and signs of it brightening up for the last hour of daylight.

Never pay attention to any social media weather type headlines, but out of curiosity, I clicked on a headline.. apparently at 6am 22 Feb a wall of snow will cover whole UK...

A Face like Thunder Turned into a very drab lacklustre Friday afternoon, not friday feeling weather. Very dull low light levels, such days should soon clear off in feel at least by end of month the extra daylight changes the atmosphere. We are at the tail end of mid winter.. next week marks the change to 'late winter', in feel I say, lots of potential winter weather ahead.. still.

severe snowstorm My missus wasn’t happy with my wet two inches either but she didn’t say whether it was to much or not enough for her😂

Seriously though, I get where you are coming from but if that’s the best that a mid winter storm with embedded cold sourced air can deliver at 1000ft asl in northern England then we don’t have a lot to get excited about moving forwards.

It’s a shame but whilst our “cold” is still readily available, it’s becoming less and less the type that brings snow and more the technically mild but still raw feeling crap that gets right into your bones as was the case up here yesterday and is still a problem today.

iand61 Yesterday was exceptionally disappointing, on paper potentially a very heavy snowfall, alas it all fell wrong for much of the region.. what happened in Yorkshire shows how finely balanced it was.

Yes, the heavens opened here about 1.30pm.  The snow I saw on the tops this morning has all gone now, has anyone got any pockets of snow left lying where there was some accumulation?  There was still some reasonable daylight left at 5.30 this evening.

Rush2019  had to push the last of mine down the drive so I could get the cars on but it was a  minute of a job as 90% of what came down yesterday had already melted before I came home from work.

even the tops are looking green again now apart from the odd white streak along the back of the walls.

there used to be a saying around these parts that if the snow lays against the walls then more is on the way but I don’t think that any of this lot will be here long enough to make that claim.

A Greenland High before months end and snow showers from packing in from the northwest would be nice, I really don't want to waste these really below average sst's.
