danm You've got me peering out the window! I'm only a few miles up the road. No sunshine yet, but if I squint and look north I can make out a few breaks in the clouds.

That said, though dull, April hasn't felt so bad so far. Probably because my expectations have lowered massively from the last few months of deluge. I've also been lucky that when I've wanted to be outside, there's been some brightness. Sometimes ones impression of a month is based on little more than coincidence.

Although cloudy with tiny glimpses of blue skies, local weather station reporting 17°c, i'll take that after Tuesday's deluge.

First day of the year today where it genuinely feels "warm" finally. Up to 19C with some decent spells of sunshine but feeling humid; the dewpoint at around 12-13C. Mountains over Wales helping to break up the cloud a bit this afternoon. Feels closer to the end of May, and in the majority of Junes in the first half there can be days several degrees cooler than today!

I keep reading everyone saying how warm it is, feels chilly here with the cloud and breeze only 13c.

It's actually warmer in most of Scotland and the orkneys than here!

danm yes land of the eternal sea breeze, its very noticeable how warm it suddenly gets when the wind does switch to offshore. Easterlies are usually the only warm direction at this time of year.

Currently 17.6°C at East Malling, but feeling humid and overcast with 72% humidity. Looks like 20°C may just be pulled off in the south Midlands or Norfolk today.

The soil situation is improving rapidly here, lots of open field soil has already dried up quite a bit. Shaded soil is a bit muddy still but that's honestly not too out the ordinary for mid-April these days. The forecasted dry spell will sort that out anyway with the now-August levels of insolation and high ambient temperatures.

At this rate I could easily see a hot spell exceeding 25°C in late April or early May.

Mapantz according to netweather I have a feels like temp 10.9c here, feels rather chilly and decided to use the heating one last time, usually wouldn't now but because of how damp it is the flat feels cold.

Just hoping the cooler spell next week gets downgraded into nothing

The irony is, any cooler spell of weather from a northerly influence would actually bring clearer skies & sunnier conditions IMBY, with any cooler 850hpa airmass mitigated greatly by a strengthening sun.

There are probably many southerners who would happily exchange a more northerly airmass and potentially clearer airmass for what we currently have now, muggy & overcast conditions.  I appreciate you northern folk may think differently though.

I'm still putting the heating on in the evening. There's been such a lack of sunshine that no residual heat has built up in the brickwork of the house.

AWD I'd gladly take it. Sunshine and mid-teens sounds better than muggy high teens.

AWD I'd agree there although to be fair the afternoon was better than the morning - still mostly cloudy but bright.

Very humid and muggy - much more like late summer or early autumn than April.

Sun tried to come out between 3 and 4 but probably no more than 20-30 mins accumulated today, so the very cloudy first half of April continues.

CryoraptorA303 Will need the synoptics to be right though. If we are getting W, NW or N airmasses for the rest of the month it will likely be a little above average at best.

Had a surprise few hours of sunshine today. Not a massive amount and still probably under half the day but much better than the recent guff. Was forecast to be grey all day by both the Met (didnt look for it but people kept posting it on here) & BBC and they both failed lol. Pleasant temperature too. Hopefully tomorrow will feature a lot of sunshine as me and the dog will greatly appreciate it! Lol.

Heatwave has arrived, global warming has won.

Woke up this morning and flicked the screen on the weather station to see this...
