The sun finally coming out late yesterday afternoon managed to push the temp up to 17c and it was a lovely evening. Looks like that could be the max though for the month if the met office outlook is to be believed. A lot of foliage still looks like mid-winter as well.

Cloud cloud and more cloud from the south west. Next week cloud cloud and more cloud from the north or north west.

@cyclonic happinessYeah, I've noticed it. Seems that it's not just regular cloud we have to contend with but the poxy jet exhausts too lol. All combine to create an unsightly layer.

Ive noticed it seems to be whenever BBC are forecasting sunshine & Met office are forecasting cloud, we seem to get this haze mix instead of either.

Chris, at least you will be dry, S Coast probably best place to be off NW'ly, just cumulus infill making it dull, here we're looking at a full washout on Monday, then a mainly wet week

Cloudy here, glimpses of sun, but not the warmth and sunshine that had been forecast earlier this week...on the upside, I think we've managed almost two days without rain?! Not quite as nice as I'd be expecting yet, though.

danm unbelievable. Currently 400ft up on the outback hill, in the clouds and can’t see a thing!

We’ve not had a single day yet with more than 10hrs sun, only two days this year have managed 8hrs. Pathetic

Alderc 2.0 you do seem to be under a patch of cloud down near Bournemouth. Hopefully it’ll clear. Looking good for much of the south and south east plus East Anglia currently.

Quite impressive how the UK is one of the only places almost fully covered by cloud in the entirety of Europe.

SE England doing ok but elsewhere in Britain...not so much.

We genuinely do need the stars to align here to manifest a properly clear day for everyone (not just part of the country).

danm trajectory of that cloud means we’ll likely stay under it most of the day.

it’s beautiful here, would be better with sun though.

Sunnier here today, @Alderc 2.0, albeit still hazy but not quite as hazy as yesterday.  Very warm for April though, temperature has been perfect for a while now.

Beautiful here, a bit breezy, but perfect for approaching mid-April, temp of 15c.👍

Boy, do I know about it! Being stuck under persistent low cloud and fog with intermittent drizzle and a moderate breeze full of dampness, it feels more like November here at the edge of Eryri/Snowdonia - that's the price one has to pay for living between the sea and mountains, I guess. All this talk of warm air everywhere else seems to refer to a far distant planet from my back garden. Barely 10 C here atm and just 11.3 max yesterday! I much rather exchange the current air mass  for something colder as it's likely to bring with it brighter spells and, with the sun being quite strong now, will at least feel more pleasant even if the thermometer says otherwise. Rant over!

not a single cloud over the entirety of Spain and Portugal 😆 Madness. I'm not even sure that's even a possible feat for the British Isles

It's possible but quite rare. Need the high pressure far enough north so it doesn't bring frontal cloud to the north of Scotland or high cloud wrapping around the top of the high. At the same time don't want North Sea low cloud coming in so north easterlies need to be pretty much non-existent.

End of June 2018 kind of managed it some days due to the perfect placement of the high although even then, low cloud was sometimes present on eastern coasts:

August 2022 was fab for England & Wales but for north Scotland fronts always grazed that area.

Alderc 2.0 I’d get in the car and drive 50 miles north.

As another poster commented, BBC Weather always seems to forecast clear, sunny skies but in reality, we end up with milky skies and hazy sun for the majority of the time. I find the Met Office to be more accurate.

It'd actually be more or less clear here if it weren't for the aeroplane trails.

Most of the haze I can see in the sky is coming from them.

cyclonic happiness it's getting worse each year, most of today's hazy cloud is contrails pegging back the sun/warmth and I'm sure it impacts storm developments too. Horrible stuff.
