  2. y=Yeah ,if you live any where other than the north west of england. We did absolutely, unequivocally appauling..no lies ,honest,i got 2cm of transient snow and my story was not the rule for tha area..there were a few exceptions[handfull].
  3. Really thankyou.I appreciate your ever present willingness to help others in an open manner which does not hinder the purpose the expression of ideas[ie showoffs who have knowledge but like to not share their knowledge by being purposely overly complicated]Again ,thanks for the time out a lot,Graham.
  4. Hello by the way ..not been on here for a few days ,nice to hear your,er ' imaginary' voices.
  5. Hey guys and galls.I'm but a lowly novice in this area of meteorology and as such still at the bottom rungs of the ladder of learning. This being so I would greatly appreciate if you could give me a concise description of the possible tropospheric patterns given the stratospheric conditions at this time . I suppose what I am asking is if one [or more] or the learned members could breakdown what could ,and is indeed the most probable, weather in the near future.I ,as are many on this site at this time of the year,am looking for cold weather ,or more specifically cold which favours the north west of britain-I'm thinking omega block[that is a greenland block ,yes?] Anyway ,thankyou for taking the time to read my rather convoluted post .Cheers,Graham[aka-greybing]

  7. I have not properly perused here for a while and I was hoping for someont to[in laymans terms] to explain what is going on in the upper stratosphere in relation to the troposhere and obviously it downwelling and effect on the it in relation to northern hemespherical weather especially in regards to Cold weather in our parts of the northern hemesphere?Thankyou in advance to any replies .ta ta
  8. There was not one ice day and hardly any ice nights this last cold spell in my 30ft asl locaton. The north west region did woefully badly albeit given a bit of elevation this changed to the contrary. Buxton, for example had plenty ice days and consecutive sbow througout the spell.By the end of tthe spell there was 30cm of snow on the ground and drifts of a foot at least.Herre in paltry low level Manchester we may have well been on Iberian coast.I hat Eccles,we not only produced the most disgusting excuse for a'cake' but the weather is even more temperaate that england[the most temperate palce this lattitude...oh well ,I live in hope of a mini ice age.
  9. Jesus ,justs noticed how many people are here or more to the point are not.
  10. I'm exactly the same..absolutely love winter more than any other season.
  11. Yeah, the showers this morning woke me up...they really were something,it takes a lot to get me out of bed on a sunday but that did[well for 5 minutes].
  12. Lovely sunny skies with a relatvely balmy 6c.Nice for a change.
  13. When I saw that i had to laugh despite the fact Iive precariously close to the mancunian bare patch.I have no explanations as to why Preston seemingly does so bad for a snow but I sure would like to know....and I did suspect the bare patch was Preston.
  14. Literally just reading snowysouthpennines post and the sky here lights up with lightning,no thunder as of yet.
  15. Ooh,rapid thaw out there now with heavy rain...glad i'm inside.
  16. Very much the same here..it is rather messy out there.
  17. Christ ,that is just a p**s take, lol. Where is that other bare patch in the n.w. of our region?
  18. snowing again.....snow,rain,snow,rain..this is the story here.
  19. I was wondering how manchester was affected during this notable winter.I rarely hear much apart from the extent of the frozen earth and some low temperatures.I suspect low level Manchester was not hit as hard in terms of snow as is often the case during cold spells. If any one has any recollections or knowledge about how manchester fared during this winter i would be greatly interested to hear.I would also like to say thank you for some of the great and interesting memories posted in this thread.
  20. Wow,now thats a good picture, definately worth saving.I always thought he was rather handsome but this is something else..oh and he's a good weather presenter ,he he he....
