  1. This is why spring can be such a challenging time of year for me. A few nice pleasant days now followed by chill and some wild weather. Desperate for some prolonged brightness. What with its brief warmth and lighter nights Spring is such a tease!
  2. A beautiful morning here. Brilliant sunshine and birds chirping. First proper glimpse of spring I reckon. Snow has melted on the Campsies, great view to the West Highlands reveals a lot of snow still on the mountains. Interesting to see how long that might last.
  3. Amazing bright sunshine in Glasgow. Quite pleasant if you’ve got a warm jacket on I’d think.
  4. Just shows the difference in expectations. 9 hours of sun over the course of a week would be pretty decent in Glasgow just now.
  5. Been a couple of days of wall to wall grey in Glasgow, although the sun briefly poked through at lunchtime today. Also quite bitter in the wind. Cold weather is absolutely no fun from March onwards. Despite this being around my birthday time this can be a tough time of year I find. Lengthening nights not matched by real increases in temperature are quite discombobulating, even though it happens pretty much every year.
  6. Yesterday was miserable. Today seems a bit more useable. Have to be honest and say, in a departure from previous trends, I’m really enjoying the milder conditions where it’s dry. An early spring would be nice.
  7. Ceremonial spring opening of a living room window happened at lunchtime there. Just lasted an hour, as is normally the case when I remember it’s still chilly, but it’s a big moment in the year. Earlier a bit this year probably because I’m home during the day, it tends to happen in mid-March. Spring is coming. Quite happy to abandon snow chases for low lying areas now. I’m sure those of you at height will get a few more days of lying snow but aside from a few occasional snow flurries or showers if we get a cold spell in March I think that’s our whack.
  8. Upto 1c so no ice day here in Glasgow which is a shame. Seems a really difficult thing to get here. Cracking day though.
  9. I’m on the south side of Glasgow and the main roads are fine. I’d expect the depths are a bit more towards Bearsden but I doubt it’s radically worse than here.
  10. Much heavier snow here than seen so far today so that total will be getting added to.
  11. About 10cm of lying snow here so far which is pretty good going.
  12. Started to rain? Forecast for here shows rain this afternoon.
  13. Would agree with this, south side now doing really well out of this. Angle of attack now ideal. Currently a procession of families and sledges upto the nearby park.
  14. Estimating about 5-7cm here on the south side of Glasgow. Had a decent amount fall overnight. I’ll stop moaning now.
  15. You definitely have more snow than here as it’s making that trudging noise when you walk on it. Not had enough here to be able to do that.
  16. Was hoping for the showers to be more frequent and/or increase intensity but this one that has just passed over has delivered it’s verdict.
  17. There’s even snow lying in Clarkston... I think the south side of Glasgow is just outside the good stuff though. It’ll need much more than what’s falling from these showers to give us any meaningful depth of snow. It’s a dusting here after about 45 min of snow - flakes are just too small. The charts posted by @lorenzo don’t exactly bode well if I’m honest. Snow depths seem to stop in their tracks as soon as they meet the Clyde valley. Obviously hope I’m wrong!
  18. I think something from this lot will line up to pass over us.
  19. I’m not sure about any red warnings simply because due to the lockdown far fewer people are commuting. The 2018 red warning I think was partly to shock people and employers to act. Agree in the Euro4 @Stormeh - will be very pleasantly surprised if it comes off that way, will be glad with a few cms of snow which hang around for a while in low temps.
