  1. Amazing the difference over such a short distance. There’s been nothing here on the south side all morning. Been very Sunny actually, looks lovely out there.
  2. Despite what the radar is suggesting, there’s no snowfall worthy of the name here in Glasgow. A few flurries blown around in the wind and that’s it. Needs something far more substantial and possibly a slight change in direction for us to get anything I think.
  3. Must be a tough gig trying to find a hill to sledge down there.
  4. It must be fizzling out between you and where I am. Had a graupel shower about 1 and aside from the occasional flurry blown in the wind that’s it.
  5. Every forecast I see seems to downgrade both low temps and snowfall for here.
  6. I think if I remember right they were very clear that it was going to be generally the east coast and central belt. Closer to the time the red warning was applied when it became apparent just how much snow would fall. EDIT: I think someone also posted in here that they had privileged info about incoming historic snowfall, that was about 5 days before. This all actually feels a bit more like a mini 2009/2010 when it was much more nowcasting. Looking back I don’t recall much in the way of predicted low temps not warnings affecting the Glasgow area, but once the snow fell the temperatures plummeted. I recall one day in early Dec 2010 being about -18 in Glasgow during the mid morning, after heavy snow the day before. Not suggesting we’ll get the same but I think we’ll get a bit more than suggested by the current forecasted temps and precipitation.
  7. Jeez 101, I was bad enough coming on here every half hour looking for upgrades!
  8. Interesting take. I’d suggest the orange zone should be elongated to take in the whole of the Greater Glasgow area as showers coming off the Firth of Forth tend to make it right through the Central belt. Indeed the met office yellow warning for Monday does just that.
  9. Heavy BFTE 2018 vibes here where Glasgow got buried and much of Ayrshire wondered what the fuss was about.
  10. I don’t think it’s stopped raining in Glasgow all day. Not even briefly.
  11. I remember in 2018 that pretty much all of Glasgow was just outside the red warning zone, but should have been included as conditions in the city actually became dangerous on the afternoon of the 28th February. Difficult to tell what will happen this time but if it’s even a mini version of 2018 then we should all get something. It just feels a long way off just now because of the rain, and the fact that forecasters are really hedging their bets for now.
  12. Rain rain lots of rain here. Seems no end to it. This easterly seems a long way off just now.
  13. Cycled along that road on Saturday @Stormeh, was freezing up there although the views were phenomenal in the sun.
  14. Should I be getting ready for our once a decade deep cold spell here. For those who don’t know, due to the topography and coastline around Central Scotland, Glasgow can do pretty well from easterlies. Almost ideal for us as far as snow is concerned, whilst our sheltered position sees us get some very cold temps. I’ve known close to -20 on a few occasions, wondering if while we have some snow cover this might be another.
  15. Just continuous rain here, and as someone pointed out, up the road on the M77 up the back of Newton Mearns it’ll be snow. Waiting on the weekend and hoping the promised cold will deliver. I see the ECM is suggesting super amounts of snow and cold with ice days, including minus double digits here. Looking interesting indeed. iPhone weather app not quite as confident and is poopooing the idea of ice days - we’ll see. Only 4/5 days away now.
  16. Continuous rain/sleet/wet snow here. Every time I check my weather app on my phone the snow has been pushed back by an hour.
  17. Light rain all morning in Glasgow. I see a lot of met office snow & ice warnings covering the Greater Glasgow area over the next week. Trying not to let my cynicism get the better of me, but part of me still thinks we’ll see the Clyde Valley be missed out. Please tell me I’m wrong.
  18. That warning is only for 2 hours. How much snow do they think will fall in that time?
  19. Saw a big skein of geese resting out by the Barrhead dams today. Flew over my house in formation there heading north east, was quite a sight, pretty unusual to see in the city.
  20. Agreed. I’m at 30m here and had two decent snow events last week and the week before. Granted this week has been far more about altitude. It will also depend where you are of course. I’ve got the benefit of being a few degrees north of much of this forum, and not immediately on a coast.
  21. Snowing in Livingston at the Celtic game, as seen on the TV.
