    It’s just been a let down so many times. When it goes right we are well placed for some of the best snowfall totals, but it’s soooo difficult to get it all to fall into place I remember well January 87, Feb 91 and so on up on the North Downs. I also remember the virtually snowless 1990’s and dismal 2000’s. If this current setup corrected a couple hundred miles South I’d be more than happy to sit back and comfortably enjoy how it will unfold but, again, it’s too close for comfort at this stage

    I know it’s probably good enough but it’s not exactly -8/-10 which would reassure me much more add to that we’re very close to the Southern extent of said cold

    The coldest time I can remember. I mean up on the downs in 87 was epic for depth but 1991 was much colder.

    I’m not impressed by any of these models. All Winter, in fact most Winters, they’ve been next to useless. Don’t know why anyone bothers with them bar a cursory glance. Better off visiting a psychic...

    Lol, they’ve just been lucky on this occasion. You want guaranteed snow move to the Alps or Alaska. Uk possibly worst place for cold on this latitude

    Crap here in Tonbridge, started nicely but fizzled out as soon as it got going. One of the worst winters I can remember given the so called potential. The thing that puzzles me mostly is that when we get a system from the West it can rain all day but, when conducive for snow, the precipitation band is about as wide as my back garden. Just want Spring now and to forget the Winter that never got going down here in Kent. Enjoy it those that have been lucky

    I say this all the time, so much I bore myself with it, but I don’t get the usefulness of the models. They’re more often than not hopelessly wrong. ‘Look for the trend, not the detail’ is oft repeated. Well recently the trend has been cold Winter weather the like of which we’ve not seen for a good while until at the last minute it goes t*ts up and disappears. Better off reading tea leaves

    Come on Beefy, you know if it could go wrong here it would. Milder charts much more likely to verify, it's the form horse.

    So, ahem, I struggle to keep up with the actual trend in the MOD thread. Up one minute, down the next. So, does anyone know in roughly which direction we’re going? Still a possibility of cold and maybe some of the white gold we chase so diligently?!?
