  1. Model agreement and continuity still looks very poor to me. GFS esembles are all over the place post 5th Oct. I don't think any conclusions can be drawn about the weather post 5th
  2. Very modern looking charts today, could see surface temps of 15c later this month. The winter ending in truly abysmal style for cold-weather fans. Even in a warming climate you get cooler winters so perhaps for a couple of years we had a blip, and from now on it's back to modern winters. I hope not...
  3. Hmm seems unlikely, I'm 25 miles south of you and it's "officially" 4.3c
  4. I'm looking forward to the 00z coming out when it will probably show a Bartlett the way it's been flip-flopping No doubt though the 12z will be taken as gospel and any future milder runs "thrown in the bin" We're definitely due for a colder spell though. I've seen a LRF for the NAO which is predicted to go sharply negative into March
  5. That's cool. I definitely want to see the Northern Lights and I understand the next 2 years are the best chance for a while
  6. It's sad state of affairs, but I think you're being a bit hard on yourself saying you've got no personality! I heard him do a radio forecast in Dec when it was very cold and he kept saying he was trying to contact the Met Office to find out what the extended forecast was. Surely weathermen / girls should at least be able to do basic model reading! Rob McElwee is the best forecaster, both informative and charismatic. But sadly the BBC want to shove him into the back office
  7. That's what you get when you employ an attention whore "celebrity" forecaster although to be fair he livens things up a bit! Re the "winter's over" comments - the biggest fall here last winter was March and in 2008 April, so don't write it off just yet.
  8. Today is a wonderful day, but I'm afraid from tomorrow onwards the Atlantic comes steam-rolling in with a succession of fronts dumping inch after inch of rain.
  9. I echo your sentiment altjhough sadly next week looks anything but dry
  10. Yes, the "Goldilocks" zone now well and truly out of our region. Fun while it lasted, but that's it now for the foreseable future.
  11. The temp has gone down slightly in Watnall although it never got that high in the first place. I wish this ppn had arrived 5 hours earlier tbh
  12. Premium radar showing the rain now making strong gains into the southern Midlands.
  13. Thinking about it April 2008 was probably the biggest fall of 07/08 too!
  14. Ironically the biggest snow event of the last 2 years for this neck of the woods was very early March for 09/10, and end of Nov for this winter so far. I.e. not in the winter months at all!
  15. The NAE is good with placement, but certainly not with type. GFS shows rain with sleet on the northern edge (for us), this seems a likely outcome.
  16. Felt very modern out there this morning, mild and wet although at least not too windy.
  17. Ummm... that's effectively what I said  Even if it does snow, it won't be around long as the weather looks set to return to average or slightly above average levels into Mid January.
  18. Well it's an advisory not a warning. Advisories are issued even when there is significant doubt of something occuring, just to "cover their backs" as it were. When (or if) it gets upgraded to an orange Flash warning, then you can get excited as it means there's a greater than 60% chance of it occuring!
  19. I noticed when flying into Northern Ireland last week that many of the fields appeared snowy, but in actual fact it was just hard frost. I suspect that might be why some areas appear to be "snowier" than they really are.
  20. Awful forecast. "Things are set to get a lot colder" when it shows maxes of 4-7c on Friday, which is what we had this weekend
  21. lol me neither - oops! I admit I only voted for Ian because his forecast stood out the most! And he's a nice chap really around the Midlands regional forum. Has he retired from LRFs now?
  22. Good effort CC. I agree generally that I think this will be a front loaded winter.
