  1. Unfortunately he means brutal cold for the USA, not us
  2. And for the east of Ireland too... *insert sad emoticon*
  3. Clear blue skies here. No hope of any precip! It just dies off as it gets to the Dublin/Meath border!
  4. Operation Dublin snow shield in full effect. Not a bloody flake! :-(
  5. When the precip starts to fall, it will get colder and colder. It drags to really cold upper air with it! Best wishes to all of us here on the Ireland thread tonight... Possibilities for us all tonight!
  6. Rule of thumb is 1mm rain is 1cm snow if I recall correctly... edit, I was beaten to but by about 2 hours!!! :-)
  7. I doubt the precipitation will make it this far, and if it does it should fall as sleet and more likely snow. Depends if the strong wind will carry it far enough for me. You guys are really in the firing line, upper air appears to be -6 or lower and the precip rate should be decent enough to get a good covering. Going to feel bitter tomorrow, that's for sure!!! Dew points are all good too. It will really start to cool down from darkness tonight. You guys will see the first snow before 10 or midnight I'd say.
  8. Wind dying down now, recorded a gust of 78mph last night, on my newly repaired anonemeter so not sure how accurate it is. Definitely a wild night. Was woken a few times the roaring wind.
  9. The online ones are made by computer while the video forecast is human generated.
  10. There are valid points being made, I mean, it is marginal... A slight warming of the uppers and it will be highland snow, then again, another cooling of the uppers will mean fun for all!!! Looking forward to now casting this!
  11. To which I have also looked. HIRLAM also shows snow showers on Saturday across a large swathes of these islands. It will be marginal, I have no doubt, but you cannot rule it out! That would be foolish!
  12. And we're now in range on the hirlam hi Res model, and it shows snow for early Saturday. Getting my hopes up!
  13. Actually think I'm thinking of 82... Bless me, I'm not as smart as I used to be!!!
  14. Actually think I'm thinking of 82... Bless me, I'm not as smart as I used to be!!!
  15. I know exactly what you mean dude. I used to post on irelandsweather.com Never again. Talk about snobbery and looking down their nose at you! Anyway, I digress. A very interesting ECM days 6,7,8 etc. Too far away for any sort of confodence, but would be nice to see the GFS come on board to some extent. Very reminiscent of how 1983 developed! That was a memorable winter!!!
  16. It was more in comment to this Bomber. Yes, it's most likely, but to discard it completely is where I have the issue, as the other contributor said.
  17. The Hi res models showing a scattering of wintery showers for tonight, but mostly confined to high ground... http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/hirlam.php?map=430 Saturday certainly has piqued my interest mind you!
  18. Well, look at the UKMO about 3 weeks ago. That is a perfect example of one run out on it's own, and it was SPOT ON! My point is, you simply cannot discard it, just because you don't like what it shows. It's foolish in the extreme and shows a complete lack of experience viewing the models.
  19. Spot on. You cannot discard any of the big 3 or 4, just because it doesn't show what we want it to!
  20. It's all good folks, I just found the ultimate chart on the CFS... Just ignore the date and the T-1000000 hours away, and you should cheer up!
  21. And in the realms of LaLa land in GFS, they produce a short lived cold northerly, would produce some low level snow up north and north west.
  22. Some pressure differences across the island, a full 10hpa!
