  1. I wouldn't give up yet John Cox, I've been watching this event tomorrow night like a hawk, it's bit on the cold side to be a marginal event, and it's our best opportunity to get something of note from the last few weeks...
  2. Another squall line passing through here, very gusty, and heavy rain with just a hint of sleet...
  3. Another squall passing through here. It's wild out!
  4. I think it will just run out of puff on the Irish sea between Dublin and Holyhead ... For what it's worth, just had a serious squall line pass through here, massive rain droplets and very gusty. If it had fallen as snow, we'd have had several inches fall, the droplets were that big! Rain rate of 80mm/hr at it's peak!
  5. Huge squall line passing through here now, probably a good thing this wasn't snow, I'd be snowed in!!! It's just bucketing down here in strong gusty winds. Temp rose from 1.8 about an hour ago to 3.9 now. There's the mild sector in this "polar low"
  6. Interesting to see how this PL will effect the model output in the next few days, I certainly expect some changes to the shorter term NWP.
  7. Indeed sir, I owe you an apology. I assumed you meant the LP system tracking down from the north on Mon/Tues This is very much in the category of a polar low, though I did expect it not to have any warmer air trapped, as far as I was aware, Polar lows had all got very frigid air trapped up! Ya live and learn!
  8. Now snowing hard, but not sticking anywhere, best snowfall since 2010 for my area anyway. Hopefully get some sticking over the weekend/next week.
  9. Consistant light sleet/snow for the last half hour now, but not sticking anywhere.
  10. A light drizzle/sleet/snizzle shower here. Feels bloody baltic out in that breeze, but above freezing at 1.8 degrees.
  11. Great pics folks, my jealousy knows no bounds at all!!! A few showers of rain during the night for me. Operation Dublin snow shield fully functioning sir!
  12. I have taken the wording from their website!!! It's on the status yellow warning. Their 'bland' forecast was made for the day, and as the day is throwing everything at us, it covered that! They also have access to more charts than the public do, therefor more knowledge. Sorry if I rant on, but Met Eireann are a thoroughly professional forecasting organisation, one of the finest around, and I feel they deserve a little bit more respect than some of the comments made earlier. PS, I have absolutely have no affiliation in any capacity to Met. Just a huge respect.
  13. I'd swap all of my 7 minutes of sleet shower for either of your snow or thunder :-)
  14. What else do you expect? This is an evolving situation and impossible to nail down to local stuff. There will be periods of heavier showers country wide more common in the NW, where there will be some larger accumulations and it will be very cold tomorrow in the strong wind. You're knowledge of meteorology is poor if you're slating Met Eireann in this set up. This is a perfect forecast for this set up.
  15. Clear blue skies here, cold strong gusting wind and currently 3 degrees, after a high over night of 9.3. Not expecting much until at least the weekend from this, but all surprises are very welcome!!!
  16. Cheers… Am a regular on there, and he had seen that word used once by one of the regular pros… And he hasn't stopped using it since!!! Every other post he's used it. Trying to sound more than he is!!! :-) I just had to call him out!!! Much like the "Shannon Entropy" buzz that rattled around MOD after Fergieweather used it once last year!!! Anyway, potential for some of my first decent snowfall since 2010 in the coming week. I can't wait!!! :-)
  17. OK! OK! We get that you've found a new word!!! You've used it in loads of posts these last few days!!!!! :-) This does really have a feel of a push east as we near the weekend and beyond, but just because that's what's happened in the past, doesn't mean it will again! (He said hopefully) The actions of some of the systems around Greenland suggest this block may have some teeth, time will tell.
  18. Well, a big let down for us on this side of the wee island to your west, just a few flurries with no settling snow. So I'm going to follow my own advice, and take a break from model outputs. Model fatigue truly has me exhausted. I will pop back in over the weekend and have a look, and I would advise a lot of you who didn't fare well with this cold spell. I say this, because the frustrations can be exhausting, but remember, it's not the models or the posters here, making the weather. It's old mother nature... Take a break, and come back refreshed.
  19. At least yours was marginal BFTV. Mine has been cold rain… Loved all your snow pics lads, Jealousy has reached new heights!!!
  20. Nothing falling here. Was 0.2 about 8pm, but it's now 1.8 degrees… Not expecting anything from this at all!
  21. ^^ Sums up my winters since 2010… If that is completely accurate, I will miss out by about 5 miles!!!! :-( Needless to say, if it was raining proverbial soup, I'd get a proverbial fork!!!
  22. It certainly could, but accumulations will be small enough. I'm north Dublin and we had a nice dusting this morning.
  23. Just waiting for the first: "OMG, this is even further west and the High is inflated at T6" post... There are quite a few things to be ironed out in the early stages of this afternoon's runs, so please can we wait until the run is at least at 120 before calling it better/worse etc! That really grinds my gears!!! Thank you... and breathe in….. and out….
