  1. Another decent day, had some more lightning earlier and thunder some lovely anvil crawlers and cgs
  2. Had yet some more lightning last night, what is going on this year, never seen such a thundery year! Love it!
  3. Going to the IOW today, noticed they got hit nicely last night, im liking the potential again tonight and tomorrow morning over there! Cant wait to move back there in the next month or 2! Missed a storm here at 3am last night i was out of it!
  4. You never know mate, keep your fingers crossed! Dont worry too much as there another risk wednesday which looks decent for your area too
  5. This storm has literally developed directly over Guernsey, had 5/6 strikes and rumbles all of a sudden, awsome stuff! They maybe Lassie, depends it it will survive away from coastal areas, they are moving NE though which is your direction!
  6. Wow cracking downpour here, winds unbelievable too! Edit! Big flash and massive crack of thunder just went off! yesss
  7. Looking at the charts for tonight, it seems that where I am could be decent area for possible heavy downpours/ thunderstorms, fingers crossed, be a good night for it before i go to the IOW for 10 days tomorrow! There also a good chance over South West coast and South coast of England too, could be an interesting night indeed!
  8. I would of thought this would be closer to an Atlantic high, I remember this little spell very well in March 2007 around the 19th and 20th, we had a big thundersnow event, first started as sleet, hail and snow with frequent Thunder and lightning and then became just heavy snow with thunder and lightning, and this was on the 20th
  9. Some charts here from what I was on about yesterday the dry Octobers, whether high pressure is over or close to the UK, then followed by cold in Winter! October 2009: Sees high pressure dominating the UK! January 2010: Everyone will remember this period, the week where the whole of the UK was covered in a white Blanket! Ive heard loads of people say that the february of 1986 was a cold snowy month, and the October of 1985 seems to have high pressure dominating the UK again I will post some more later, but heres a couple of examples
  10. As you say you never know, I have a good feelling about this winter
  11. I think someone mentioned this the other day, but I been looking at Archives through all of our cold winters, and the majority of Octobers do seem have high pressure over us or close to us in most of them, and all seem rather dry!
  12. I am really getting that Winter vibe now just like many others on this site, like at the point where im starting to watch Snow videos on youtube :L My hopes on this winter is that I hope I wouldnt want winter to start to to early! Though from mid December onwards is when I would love it to start kicking off, especially around Chritmas Would love lots of snow, ice and frost and some ice days too! Its always fun to have at least 1/2 Atlantic storm thrown in, but not a repeat of last winter! My thoughts however, I am going for a mixed winter, but some much colder conditions at times with snow and ice almost anywhere! But there will be milder interludes too with some rain and gales thrown in Best chance of cold spells im going for end of December and in February!
  13. Hmm them last 20 minutes was quite fun aswell, had a fair enough awsome looking cloud to cloud lightning, could make out the structure of them all, fantastic stuff!
  14. Well these storms finally made it to us and Jersey, worse of it is just to my east, but have to say ive witnessed and still witnessing a cracking lightning show, cloest strike was about 10 minutes ago, fairly loud, but anywayys ive heard a fair few rumbles and seen so so so so much lightning its crazy
  15. Ive never seen lightning like this, this incredible and its getting close, and close enough to start hearing distant thunder as well!
  16. I am currently watching a distant but very beautiful lightning display from the storms that are on the very NW tip of france, i can see forks from the very top of the clouds, and they are very very bright, its so clear its lovely!
  17. That was definatly one of the loudest thunderstorms ive definatly experienced never jumped and shook so much ever! That was literally awsome stuff!
  18. Urmm well i can safely say ive never jumped so much in my life them last 3 strikes were pure positive cgs very very close ive never heard thunder so loud in my life! Im still literally shakig haha and so is this house!
  19. Boom nice early wake up call here in guernsey, Thunder and lightning has been rumbling away for the past hour, had some cracking cgs and loud cracks in the last 10 minutes. Frequency is dropping now though. This makes me happy indeed Edit! Holyyyy smoke! That was the closeest cg ive ever seen! I have gone death! Made me jump! This storm has now gone nuts in the last 2 minutes now! And now a positive strike right ocer head!
  20. One of my favourite threads! There definatly does seem to be more ICE this year than last year!
  21. Not alot of warmth on the charts at all this morning, a very unsettled look indeed, with alot of rain on the way this eek, starting tonight! However Friday doesnt look as wet now though, looks mostly showery mainly land based, Not to to bad with temperatures now either But now the weekend into next week is definatly where things turn, with some very strong winds in places and a fair amount of rain too as others have stated especially over the North and North West. The only sort of positive I could find on the latest GFS for any drier and calmer weather is this small ridge of High pressure for the time being in FI over the South of the UK mainly Then its backs off west towards the end with some more cooler and unsettled weather again This is obviously FI so it is most likely to change
  22. Few showere around at the moment, had a fairly heavy one come through earlier, skies looks quite strange
  23. Got a good feeling that friday could see some thundery downpours behind the main band of rain, especially the further South you are
  24. There is indeed alot of unsettled weather to come this week with alot of rain! Got a feeling fridays rain could be followed by thundery downpours behind, thats what the GFS is hinting at by the looks of it, and it could be quite warm behind the main band of rain. Does genrealy look quite unsettled as the run goes further on... This could be potentially quite warm and thundery though Further into FI shows High pressure coming back which would looks warm/very warm! Especially in the South/South East of the UK End of FI seems to finish with Northerly which looks rather cool and kinda horrid with some rather cool uppers as well
