  1. Yes it's been a very good event - not least since my school shut so I've had the day off work Down the hill in Tinshill we've had probably twice the depth of snow as last Friday. I would say about 10 - 15cm.
  2. Just watched this little tractor thing drag the van up the road. It's like Ice Road Truckers in Tinshill.
  3. Met office for my area has changed with rain turning to snow a couple of hours earlier. I hope it's right.
  4. Just shows the difference a bit of height makes Tim. I reckon we've got about 3-4cm here. Still great though. Still some heavy stuff just to the north on the radar I wonder if it will drop South a bit later?
  5. Yeah it just doesn't seem to be moving south very much at all. I'm on the southern edge and we've done pretty well here. Shame we seem to have no members a bit further north because they look to be getting an absolute pasting.
  6. Still snowing here. A few cars about but all seem to be having trouble except 4x4's. Looking at the radar Knaresborough looks to getting hammered at the moment.
  7. I'm down the hill near Tinshill club. It's amazing what difference that height can make driving to the top of Tinshill Lane. But even where I am at 124m we often do better than lots of places in Leeds.
  8. Yeah it's been miles better than last Winter already. The only snow we had was one morning (Feb I think?) and we were away in Lincoln overnight. We drove back in the late morning all that was left were piles of slush!
  9. Interesting how the flakes change. Some massive flakes earlier then they'll turn really small for a bit. Currently medium sized
  10. Leeds Bradford Airport is 208m above sea level though so probably one of the highest points in Leeds.
  11. Is there a possibility the strat warming could have the opposite effect and have a detrimental impact on our chances for cold. Sorry to put a fly in the ointment but hasn't that happened before?
  12. Yes it's a synoptically beautiful evolution watching that high pivot round to allow the cold air to flood south. We can but dream!
  13. For reference folks. This is the exact moment the wheels began to fall off...
  14. I think it's more that people recognise that you have a lot of knowledge and are interested in your take of what the models and longer range drivers suggest to you. It may be true that most people would do so with the hope of encouragement for cold, but nevertheless I think most people just appreciate an informed take, whatever it suggests.
  15. Lots of chilly weather on offer on the GFS 12Z including a fair few frosts. Certainly a big improvement on what we've seen so far this Autumn. The Atlantic comes back in but it remains cool and unsettled rather than horrible mild muck. Frosts then wind, rain and feeling cold. Sounds good to me.
  16. Glosea update today (I think) a bit grim but probably as expected.
  17. Yes I understand that some need the rain but when you've had nearly 200mm over the last two months it becomes less appealing. It's all about personal preference but I'd just like to see some sunshine and usable outdoor weather more than anything.
  18. Looks very wet from Sunday though. Horrible weather, I much prefer the GFS for next week.
  19. Yes still very little rain on offer apart from the end of the ECM. What is it with the ECM these days? It always used to be the GFS overblowing the lows in FI.
  20. I'm liking this ECM run which brings some welcome rain for my area - not that it's by any means that wet. It seems pretty out of step with the other models though, so I'm fully prepared for my hopes to be dashed on the next run.
  21. Gardeners, farmers and nature. It's unusual to see brown grass and parched earth this early in the year. I like the countryside looking lush and green at this time but as you say hopefully the rain from over Winter should rule out hosepipe bans for now. If anything the GFS 06Z is even drier than the 0Z .
  22. Chasing rain really has become like chasing snow for me - always seems to fade away when the charts get into the reliable. The GEM is awful in that respect this morning and has gone from a soaking yesterday to bone dry today! The ECM is the best of the bunch rain wise but even that's no washout. So much uncertainty in the models at the moment but the default seems to be dry weather.
