I have taken the shovel, duvet, water and chocolate out of the car already. How foolish was I thinking that winter is over?! Going home at 4.30pm might be interesting up over the hills....

Drive into work as bad as its been all winter (although admittedly for seven days this year I've been snowed-in so not experienced the roads when they have been bad enough for police closures). 0.0C on the car thermometer all the way to IKEA. Lamancha/Leadburn particularly snowy with road slushy and/or white down the middle.

Just had a very heavy burst and now settling ootside the front door. Plenty more to come....

Aye, SS. Snow line at 300m here - top of hill opposite lovely and white.

Heavy constant snow piling down here, but not piling up. Just grass white for now.
Was hoping for my 40th snow day, but it's a couple of hours too late. Darn.

Thick dusting here. Was nothing at 2am despite light steady snow, so temps/dew must have continued to drop.
Is measurement of a snow day at 9am GMT, i.e. currently 8am?

Snow line to 300m here. Can see it from the hoose inbetween the snow showers.

Just been outside to refill the bird feeding station. It's a tad chilly and there is an inclement wind. I am being polite. All day.

Unfortunately we are in the line of some showers sprinkling their ice cold rain drops on my freshly razored head. I'm trying to do the first rake of the season and gather up all the twigs and broken assorted bits of tree from the lawn areas, but third time I've come back indoors to watch the showers pass over in streaks of rain... Hmmmm.

Bit wild overnight in Tweeddale with that gusty southerly wind funnelling down the valley. Woke up around 4.30am with lashing rain and gusts shaking the hoose!

I'm not expecting anything other than maybe some flakes in the not insubstantial wind. Am I the only one completely playing this down in southern Scotland, or am I wilfully ignoring a Sunday dawn reality of 5 -10cm?
@Hawesy @CatchMyDrift @mardatha ???!!!
I've just looked at the radar. I was ignoring the reality. Clearly.

Morning. Much the same in my neck of the woods. Light to moderate snow, grass nearly white. Cats spectacularly unimpressed. Heating racked-up so my tomato seeds germinate, and getting ready to go out to the local model rail exhibition!

Howling sleety snow showers over the Beef Tub earlier. Went shopping to the wee independent garden centre in Moffat for some planters. Not that I'll be outside much until Monday!

The Friday afternoon - Monday snow and cold potential seems to be increasing rather than the traditional down-grading...
Just an innocent comment on a Tuesday morning.

Shurely that should be "shovel 'em"?!
No desire for more here, although making 40 snow days would be cute.

Surely enough by now? It was -0.5C in the car and sat in the traffic for an hour by IKEA was erm, well fine. Watching guys digging out cars in front on the inclines. Four snow ploughs, with drivers' faces either glee at the late play in the snow or resignation (that was the guy in the one in traffic at Penicuik). Just over two and a half hours for a journey that is do-able in normal rush hour at 1hr10.
Cats specatularly unhappy. Fifteen birds round the feeder, pet pheasant and his missus (Edward and Tubbs) looking miserable under the Scots Pines. It's all wrong!
