  1. No settings have changed this end SC - have you been fiddling with it your end? Explain what you're seeing.
  2. A remarkable 19ºC in Edinburgh earlier - the haar cleared for the first time since Thursday for a good four hours  Back to ~150m visibility again now.
  3. Let's hope so Ian - I haven't seen blue sky since Thursday afternoon. Drizzle, fog and day/night temps varying hugely at 15 or 16ºC A new fashion phenomenon has emerged over the weekend for the ladies - it's called 'haar hair' - all frizzy and damp. Great excuse to stay in - 'I can't come out to the pub tonight becuase I've got haar hair'!!
  4. Thick haar (100m visibility earlier) just about lifted into dull low cloud here in Dundee. Currently 16ºC.
  5. Drizzle, low cloud and fog. Max 16ºC - curently 14ºC.
  6. Agreed J1. And it was a bit cheesey to say "the barbeque summer has arrived". Pats on the back all round at the meto - with 2/3rds of the summer to go, a bit risky....?
  7. The nights are drawing-in GSL  Crystal clear here this evening - not a hint of the haar we had from 8pm last night until midday today.
  8. Very interesting RS. No sign this evening though - unlike this time last night when the horizon out to sea had disappeared by 7.30pm.
  9. Thick fog throughout Edinburgh at 8am this morning - wet pavements even. Caught the train to Dundee and after going over the Forth the fog quickly lifted into low grey cloud at Inverkeithing all the way through Fife, over the Tay and into Dundee and it is only now that patches of blue sky are appearing. Subsequently not so many seals basking on rocks/sandbanks this morning!
  10. Haar! Down to 100m visibility here now - it's rolled in off the sea in the last 30mins Soooooo nice and cool!
  11. Scotland's biggest secret weapon against the midges. And it's been kept quiet from me for years! The army use it, the locals use it - and they snigger at us that don't!!
  12. Staffordshire blighted by North Sea haar?! You should try living 3 miles away when another 2 miles further west at the airport it's sunny and 15ºC warmer....
  13. We'll dish out a good kicking http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif
  14. Report from MAGPIE1: Welcome to posting on the forum magpie1 - but please press 'add reply' to post in the thread - the report button is to complain only!
  15. The bagpipes could do with a decent buffing Peter
  16. Never knew that J07 - thanks for putting us right! Was a complete fluke - we planned to go away that weekend a couple of months ago, and seeing as we had a hire car, it was basically a last minute location decision - 'let's go where the weather is likely to be the best' scenario
  17. Just ridiculously heavy rain here in Edinburgh - no electrical activity whatsoever so far. Had a couple of rumbles yesterday tho
  18. Yeah - it really makes the silhouette of the Paps on Jura stand nicely out SS.
  19. No fish - but had mussels. I like mussels. It certainly is a beautiful part of the UK. A good 4 hours drive from Edinburgh, even though it's on the same latitude; suppose that could be compared to London to Devon.
  20. Do you mean the views from Bardrainney?! If you look at the view, the kids would be away with your car's wheels  The husband (who's from the Gibby) says Upper Bogston (pmsl) has much better views
  21. Willl let Karl know - and ask him to give the ensembles a kick
  22. This time last week Jim and I were camping it up on the Mull of Kintyre - and it was too hot. Up at 08h15 every morning to get out of the heat of the tent; but walking along the beach at 10pm whilst paddling in shorts and t-shirt made up for it - enjoy View from the campsite over to Jura and Islay Views from Skipness castle to Arran Palm trees in Campbeltown Jim in the sea looking out to the Isle of Gigha with the ferry passing Another sunset The view up Loch Fyne from the Tarbert - Portavadie CalMac car ferry
