  1. Nights are certainly a lot darker now! 8.15 and the light is beginning to fade and completely dark by 9. Autumn is just around the corner and them lovely cozy nights in with the family will not be far away!!
  2. A sure sign Autumn is on the way, sycamore trees beginning to turn. Also picked a shed load of blackberries at the weekend. It was also feeling particularly cool this morning walking to work. Autumn is not far away!!
  3. 8pm and much darker this evening! Give it another 4 weeks and it will be dark by 7.30pm. I like all kinds of weather /seasons but in my opinion you can't beat the gradual descent into Autumn and the trees showing their abundant colours, you can't beat a cozy night in Autumn/winter with the family watching a movie!! Bliss!,
  4. Only had 1mm of rain on the Isle of Wight in July!! So this rain is most welcome! Allotment can certainly do with a good watering!
  5. 8.20 and quite dark this evening, although it is overcast. Certainly better for my younger children going to bed with the evenings darker!!! Autumn definitely on the way, the sooner the better!
  6. Certainly noticing nights drawing in now, dark by 9 tonight. Give it a couple more weeks and will be dark by 8.30! Roll on the darker evenings and fresher mornings!!
  7. Not expecting much for us down south over the next few days, but I have a feeling late January early February our time will come.
  8. Another snippet Turning much colder for all parts of England over the next few days. Spells of sleet and snow that start the period will become increasingly confined to the North Sea coast and hills, giving way to cold, crisp days and sharp overnight frosts. Frosts may also be severe at times, particularly where there is lying snow. As winds fall light there is an increasing risk of freezing fog patches forming overnight. Locally where freezing fog lingers temperatures may stay sub-zero all day. Cold weather currently looks set to last into early next week. At this stage, it appears that the weather may then turn less cold during the middle of next week.
  9. I work in a school and we have just had a level 3 warning from the MET office. Southeast England 90 % Turning colder with a few sleet and snow showers at times but generally a good deal of dry weather. The lowest temperatures across the region are expected to occur over the weekend and into early next week. London 90 % Turning colder with a few sleet and snow showers at times but generally a good deal of dry weather. The lowest temperatures are expected to occur over the weekend and into early next week. Southwest England 90 % Turning colder with the odd sleet and snow shower at times but generally a good deal of dry weather. Coldest across eastern parts of the region with temperatures expected to be at their lowest

Although I must say this is one of the best forums on the net and makes winter even more magical.
  13. Not sure where to put this, but here seems a good place if not in the right place feel free to move MODS. Read an interesting article on science magazine website where it says shoe box sized cubesats could reduce weather forecasting errors. http://scim.ag/1Ok5FXz would also like to say thanks for input from everyone in this thread, it helps the less knowledgeable like myself to learn.
  14. Having a problem again with formatting on the iPhone only seems to be in the MOD thread for some reason? Image below.
