  1. Temperature steady at 3.3c here with light rain falling. Colder uppers (-6/-7) due after midnight but will there be any precipitation left?
  2. Temperature 3.4c here and falling. It looks like the colder uppers are due to arrive here at around midnight in tandem with the band of precipitation currently over the Central Belt of Scotland. Any appreciative snowfall looks difficult to call at this stage though.
  3. Doesn't the UKMO 12z output just mirror what the Met Office 6-15 day outlook suggests though? Milder air reaching the North and West but then Eastern areas becoming colder and drier as next week progresses (as the continental air battles back)?
  4. It certainly feels cold out there this evening considering today is supposed to be the 'mildest' day of the week.
  5. Temperature hovering around 1.0c with moderate rain here.
  6. As has been mentioned previously by some, the UKMO handled the run up to this weekend extremely well whilst the ECM and GFS were swinging wildly from run to run. It was only when the breakdown (of sorts) scheduled for early next week started to be modelled by the UKMO at the 144 range that people started saying it had backed down in the face of the ECM / GFS output, which of course goes out much further than 144. For what its worth I think its the GFS that's out on its own with the much flatter pattern at 144, whilst the ECM and UKMO show a much more favourable scenario for cold for the UK going forward from there, and having those two big guns on our side cannot be bad at this stage surely?
  7. I am a little bemused by this as well. I'm not sure how to post yesterday's charts but looking at today's 120 UKMO chart, from memory, it is not too different from yesterday's UKMO 144? Ok, so the evolution going forward might not what most might be after in terms of deep cold and snow, but this is a constantly evolving situation, and I can see absolutely nothing in the models that suggests that mild southwesterlies are about to become entrenched over the UK. Indeed, if anything, ECM / GFS et al have been slowly moving towards the UKMO evolution if anything, and I would not be surprised if there are one or two 'white' surprises that pop up in the models at short notice on the next few runs. Time will tell...
  8. Although I live in South Yorks I work in Leeds and it looks fairly calm at the moment. However the cold front is yet to move through and once it does the winds are likely to pick up quite dramatically this afternoon....stay safe everyone!
