Strarted wt temps of 2.6.. now 1.6 & falling... Can only be good for settling snow later....

Really !!!! No Thanks.. personally if this month doesent deliver im done & will be looking forward to some warm spring sunshine in March.. Heating bills & all that.. plus you would need 850s of at least -12-14 to deliver lying snow by then which in reality wont happen.. Im ready to eat my hat if it does..

What's annoying is the cold block is still in place , just the wrong orientation .. I'm assuming this is because we have no low heights in Europe .?.

Agree , for most the SouthEasterly source is now from the med..Cold but no where near cold enough, would think any showers would be sleety by this time..

Morning all The mood seems a bit down in here this morning & i can understand why. Cold coming .....Yes Snow Chances .....Minamal.. Having said that we have to be optamistic as in the past surprizes can pop up at 2-3 hrs... And wth cold air in place or a slight shift in wind direction can bw the diffrence.. personally i would just be happy wth a couple of inchs of lying snow for a day or 2.. That in its self would be great after 4 years of nothing... Also im starting to yearn some warmth & sunshine so this cold spell for me is it ..

Whats wth the milder air in the S.E ?

Can anyone tell me why my bbc weather app is showing temperatures of 8c in 10 days time when the 3 main mods are all showing a cold easterly by then..?? There must be a lot of uncertainty or bbc have other info that doesn't agree why what we are seeing.. Don't normally post in mods but am confused by the Ramping & what's being forcast..

Hightest today was -1.5c , currently -2c Have got frost on cars this evening so must be more moisture around than yesterday evening.. Have a feeling that's it for a while for us southeasterners..shame really as its been bitter this week but without the powder..

Been around -2 all day here... The Sun has just come out and currently -1.7c First ice day for 4 years....

Below now - 0.5c , very misty... Have to be honest , loving this weather especially at sunset & sunrise , the colours mixed with the frost & fog have been breath taking..

Temps not dropping as quick this evening. Currently 0.2c Fog starting to Thicken up.. back garden still rock hard though. Not sure it will be quite as cold tonight but still below freezing..

Well well well.. Another night another record -6.9 c . The thing is I woke at 4 o clock to thick fog and it was -6 , I truly believe without the fog we could have been close to -8 or 9 Anyway the rime frost is amazing this morning , everything is caked white...

Down to - 4.4c now. , last night I had -6.8 c could it be we break another nightly record...

Not entirely true , places in Thanet are recording - 4 now.. gonna b some battle tonight.. What's interesting is both Southend & Thanet are coastal...

We had thick fog up until an hour ago , during that time the temp hovered around -1 c .. Now the fog has cleared and the temperature has dropped very fast to - 3.5 c and falling.. Very icy outside, just walked dog and pavements are ice rinks..
