Went subzero here at 4.15 and has already dropped to -1 c ..Very misty as well..

Very impressive -6.8 here last night . Still -2.8 and now with Freezing fog.. Stunning Winter scenes...I suppose this is the next best thing to snow and we will just have to keep hoping for snow another year.. Also add I have frost on top of frost here 7 days running , my back garden is absolutely thick...plants post with soil in are like concrete..

Dropped to -4.6c here.

Well in the end we bottomed out at -5.7 c now that's impressive right next to the north sea/channel.. Also probably the coldest night for 5 years. At a guess.

Minus 2.5c seems to have steadied as was the same an hour ago...

-2.6 now.. beginning to wonder how low we will go tonight my lowest so far is -3.6 and that was end of November.

Let me tell you here right on the coast the top temp today was 0.9c which is pretty amazing right by the sea not far off an ice day. Right now we are already down to -2.1c (at 5.25) Would have been perfect if that easterly had arrived. Once again we are left wondering if only..

Yeah here too but we r talking minimal amounts which will be gone in an hour.. There's another band coming our way which is larger,, problem unfortunately is temps!!!

Heavy now , large flakes. Not Settling If it had been like this first thing when ground was frozen we would be rubbing our hands together.. Temp 1.3c

Want to get excited but unable to with just a few flakes blowing around in the wind. Mods are pretty depressing as well , yesterday's gfs o6z was eppic , how things change in 24hrs... Have heavier large flakes now .....who knows !!!!

I am starting to think that if we don't start seeing some signs within the next couple of weeks of any cold , than I think we can kiss another winter good bye and look forward hopefully to some early spring warmth and sunshine , not that its practically cold now but you get my drift... I like most on hear like snow and cold , but have no time for this conveyor belt of mild, wind, rain and would rather be seeing signs of spring.. c

Last night i had a low of -3.2. But wots really amazing is just how low the D.P dropped to ... -8.1 which is the lowest its been for 3-4 years , shame we couldent get any ppn now... currently 1.9c D.p -3.6 & falling.. We have the cold but no snow..shame. C

Been reading in the mods for several days now and following the ops 4 times a day.....The only thing i can say for sure is .....like the weather there very unpredictable and change every other day to the point that i now have a migrane and need prozac !!!!... Just getting the cold here seems so hard and all they seem to talk about is when it will end... wth no detail thats reliable inbetween.. The more i read and hope , the more it seems like a lottery especially when it comes to actual lying snow... But as we on here know it does sometimes happen ( 82,85,87,91,95,09,10,11,13.. to mention a few.....).

Can i just ask those in the know... Do you think this will be a nationwide cold spell wth snow chances for many even us southeners. Or Snow confined to usual areas i.e northern parts , scotland and areas wth elevation.. Im asking because to the untrained eye those northelys predicted never seem to bring the cold far enough south or the precipitation... I personally will be hoping for more of a N.Easterly at some point during the coming cold spell..

If we had this type of weather set up say middle of January , [sausage type high over Scandinavia and Russia] I think we would be seeing quite a bit of the white stuff down here in Kent by the end of the week.. I can only dream it comes to fruit further down the line.. 11c and grey here but feeling a lot colder in the wind..

Is this winter over , you'd think so wth the comments coming from the mods and lack of inspiration in here ... If it is please someone tell the sun to warm me up cos its still relatively cold.. The weather has gone into boring mode and I for one am looking forward to some warmth now if this is all we are gonna get this year from a cold fan prospective.

That's because you have dry air wth low due points , don't expect white hoar in these conditions..

I feel your pain like so many others especially when we have had our hopes dashed on so many occasions these last few weeks, charts that in F1 have looked great and at times backed by the gods that apparently are in the know, but I for 1 feel very disillusioned about this winter and the 1 before , and will now take these false dawns wth a pinch of salt until I see a raging Easterly on my doorstep wth - 16c uppers... which is about 1 in every 10 years ,lets be honest.. I am 42 yrs old and don't get me wrong we get plenty of different avenues wth snow events (a lot of them marginal ) , but a true bitter easterly is a rarity that can pop up at a moments notice and should never be taken for granted , as it could be a long, long time before you get to experience another... I like Steve am now losing interest wth this winter and yes I know its only the 2nd of Feb but if we get stuck wth a U.K high for a week which sinks allowing another week of westerly's to follow then we will fast be running out of time wth the sun growing stronger each day.. Still hoping something pops up .. Craigore.

there seems to be some quite mild air associated wth this little system that has moved down overnight as most of us are reporting temps rising .. As soon as I got up this morning and saw it was 3.5c you know its game over.. Even here in East Kent we may have the lions share of any ppn this week BUT it will just be sleety rain as the meto temps are around 5-6c most of the week.. On a lighter note for me im off to centre parcs at Woburn tmrow,, it will be a lot colder there but dry !!! cant win really.. I personally think February still has something up its sleeve but we need mainland Europe to go into the freezer first and then tap into that bitter air , will probably be mid-late Feb. (yes the sun will b stronger , but the north sea will be colder still which by then will limit any marginality ..

Wow have woken to my first snow in nearly 2 years , even if its just a dusting (looks nice covering everything) Dog has seen his first snow and hes not very impressed .. temp 1.3c .. Have a feeling we would have woken to more had it been colder as I think we've already had some melt.. Still it now gives us hope going forward over the next several days , especially as its to get a bit colder still, last nights snow was only forecast within 6 hrs. so who knows what might pop up nxt week .. a few more polar lows would be nice..

Would I be right in thinking it also looks good for Kent..??

Are we actually gonna see any white stuff post weekend ?? or is it a case of frontal snow wales , south west , snow showers north east !! southeast dry ????.. Also tempratures don't seem that low BBC saying 5 and 6 c on Monday Tuesday nxt week for my location...
