Just been editing my video from Sunday. I just managed to reach the town of Saltfleet (a few miles north of Mablethorpe) in time to catch the northern limit of the storm. But it was as I stood on the coast near a little village called Theddlethorpe that I was treated to a fantastic display of lightning as storms that had previously affected Lincolnshire grazed the coast for about an hour. The display was made even better by a rainbow and then the red glow of the setting sun behind me.
Wow..... an amazing display and great stills @Supacell, beautiful scenes with the rainbow too..some of those flashes looked pretty close...or was it the light and the angles etc...storms while they can be devestating are also just so beautiful when the angles are right...

I'm the same and also targeted East Yorkshire. Although I got to see the northern part of the storm as it moved away I would have loved to have been further south around The Wash.
It may not be the last chance for this year. Next weekend into early next week offers up another thundery plume, although at 5+ days out its a case of watch this space as opposed to get excited.
As you know i am not a chaser...however yesterday i was tempted to go up to Cambridgeshire way or even the Wash area/ Holbeach as it became apparent the storm meant business when it hit Milton Keynes.....however my family circumstances would not make it feasible anyway. Therefore i rely on you guys and all the good work you do to capture those magnificent storms...obviously it doesnt always work out for you buts it incredible what you do...i couldnt do all that driving for one thing...keep up the good work if you can. It is much appreciated. ..i just do chases from my front to back garden..sure the neighbours think i'm nuts..

I'm feeling the urge to drive down the A1 towards that MK cell as it moves north. But my experience has taught me it will probably fizzle out just as I get there whilst a supercell erupts in my original target area of York.
Would it be better going to Newcastle or that area @Supacell, however i talking from a non chasing position...you will no better..

Yeah but even when the cooler air moves south over the next couple of days and the air masses meet right over my house, nothing will happen - for some reason. Instead of forcing the air upwards, The cooler air will just politely move the warmer air away in a violent period of moderate drizzle.
Love that...should be used in weather forecasts for our areas..
"a cold front will politely move in respectively replacing the warm air and as long as everyone is happy a period of moderate...(maybe intense if you are lucky)..drizzle will ensue"

Yes frustratingly that looks like the picture for us here in the south and east until it cools down on Tuesday i think. Its incredible to think yesterday was sixth consecutive day in a row of temp being over 30 deg in the uk in september with 33.2 at Kew and yet no storms to speak of here in this part of the uk and not looking likely we will get any from the forecasts...pleased for those in Midlands/North but have to admit frustrated today as i was really hoping for a birthday storm...
..as others have mentioned late October last year really delivered the goods for storms here and as i remember it wasnt that warm beforehand..and yet 6,7 sweltering days this time and...well its the weather...
Great videos and pics..keep them coming and good luck to those in the north today...
Edit...just seen Nicks forecast...maybe a little more hope...

As @Southern Storm said some fantastic photos, particularly of the storms at sunset...really envious in a nice way...although storms tomorrow are forecast further north im really hoping we can eek out a few surprises further south than today also...(please )

The latest UKV and Arome both favour the Midlands tomorrow for an MCS like event. Would not be surprised if there was the odd large chunk of hail.
Well that is significantly further south than the mo warning area...just need to nudge it bit further sse on future runs ....

....well hottest day of the year provisionally at 32.7 at Heathrow and sixth day in a row the uk has recorded over 30 deg..
...little bits of fluffy cumulus but not much here..air still feels ripe for it though..cant believe this is september...

I was incredibly shy when i was a kid growing up but always had an interest in the weather and particularly storms so i was always looking out of the window...got told off at school for doing that...now i am older (quite a lot older) i quite happily go outside and video/take pics with my phone without feeling any embarassment..as others have said it is great having a hobby but even greater is being on a forum with like minded people who are often more knowledgable than me to share and enjoy the interest with...also i have learnt much more from the community and access to the data/models ( but still a lot to learn)..so year, as @Supacell says be proud of your meteorological hobby as it is one of the most exciting, frustrating.....amazing hobbies to have ....
