  1. Oh I saw it coming, trust me, the anvil was huge radar said direct hit right up to barely 10 miles out. However it literally split as it approached, you could see it happening. Now why that happened I have no idea, but it's not unusual for storms (big or small) to suddenly divert north or south of here. Must be some sort of local topography (which in a relatively flat county is hard to conceive!)
  2. It always does - no idea why unless the boulder clay plateau has some sort of influence, although I was lead to believe it was an enhancer. Normal for Norfolk so no change there. Still August and September to go........and be disappointed yet again.
  3. Nope, wasn't like that at all - split just as it got to mid Norfolk, 3 rumbles of thunder and about 10 mins of light rain. Not what I'd call mental unless I was completely desperate!
  4. Mostly cloudy all day, brief glimpses of the sun and quite windy at times. At least the air is a bit warmer. And it's raining. Roll on summer.
  5. Finally had a reasonably decent storm of sorts with visible lightning as it passed a few miles to the SW.
  6. Rather disappointing for East Anglia (parts of Essex notwithstanding) - last night was only very marginal for us tbh and today really didn't pan out as well as it could have.
  7. Trust me, it's exceedingly heavy! Not particularly electrified though, saw about 4 flashes and half a dozen rumbles.
  8. Getting dark again here, don't think the drains have dealt with the last lot - must nip out to check rain gauge!
  9. Epic rainfall here, and I don't use that word lightly! Nothing to write home about thunder wise though. Roads are literally rivers, barns are flooded at the front.
  10. Well that rainfall was epic putting it mildly! Not that active thunder wise though, shame!
  11. Dull, dull and dull. Did I mention dull? It really is dull. Surely wishing for a glimpse of the sun isn't too much to ask especially in summer...
  12. Back to 10/10 cloud cover, not very humid imo. I would happily trade a week of overnight storms for just one day of blue skies and sunshine. It's just so damned depressing
  13. Yep same here, honestly thought I might see sunshine just one day before 6pm!
  14. Think I might alter my signature to "number of rumbles of thunder heard in 2016" - total would be 8. Pfft.
  15. Rather dank and considerably more humid than yesterday. Collected 2.5mm rain, including that from yesterday lunchtime. My lowest total for June so far and about 1mm off the 100mm mark for the month. Can't remember a more depressing, wet, miserable June! Maybe a chance this afternoon but hope I won't be sitting watching everything disappear eastwards before it reaches Norfolkas usual
  16. Never shifts north though, just does a 90 degree turn to the right over Essex! Considerably more humid than yesterday but dank and overcast as per.
  17. Is why I love Holland in summer Thinking of getting a holiday home over there hehe
  18. Standard grey murk and drizzle in Norfolk, something which we haven't seen in weeks (she says with a degree of sarcasm) - seems my forecast was spot on.
  19. OMG, this sporadic drizzle is amazing! *sarcasm mode on* . Talk about failed on yet AGAIN.....
  20. I'm totes bored so off to bed. All the activity staggers to a halt once it reaches land so the chances of anything getting past London are slim to skeletal! Just wish I was in the caravan at the Dog Center in Kerkwijk right now!
  21. Tedious isn't it? At least we have the dreaded "thundery rain" to look forward to later on!
  22. Lot of rain now, storm is moving on to Amsterdam and central areas of Holland
