  1. its looks set to be the coldest march since 1962 for england. and 1969 for scotland i think
  2. how much snow do u have left PS? ive still got 4cms and only a slow melt!? seems a bit different to what everyone else is reporting - maybe i need to take off my snow tinted specs!! edit: perhaps my altitude makes the difference
  3. yeah and more than likely for heathrow it will end up the coldest march since 1962! edit: just seen coast's post above
  4. i must admit to being quite hardcore in my love for cold snowy weather! if we were experiencing cold rain i would certainly be in the "bring on the sun" camp.... but i have icicles the size of which i've not seen since dec 2010 and i have 5cms of snow so keep it coming!! as a keen gardener and vegetable grower i wouldnt want the cold to extend much into april but looking at my garden now, everthing is coping fine and better than last year wen mild weather in late feb led to everthing shooting early, only to be damaged by frost soon after. i guess its a little too early to say i have no damaged plants from this cold spell but i cant see any signs so far. hopefully the weather will get all its frost, cold and snow out of its system and then we can see a dramatic change to warm sunny weather that will last all summer In the meantime, here's a pic of some crazy March icicles taken this morning...
  5. i was just looking through my pics i took on my phone yesterday and found this pic - check the bird at the bottom!! and a couple other pics
  6. fair enuf. i guess its a case of one radar telling porkies and the other telling bare faced lies lol
  7. as long as it's accurate I'm not bothered by res. nothing worse than being teased by faux snow! edit: maybe it's the higher res that makes some radars too sensitive - hence the anaprop. do we have an actual date for when the met are switching to Doppler?
  8. I remember reading a blog by Paul Hudson a few days ago where he mentioned 1969 as the last March that was colder than this one
  9. decent flurry here. but all I really wanna know is who the hell superglued the front to ea, midlands and Wales? It's gone on long enuf it's time to own up. My money's on teits
  10. there is a chance later this eve that it will slip back but it will be decaying so depends how much juice it has left by that stage
  11. that's the poss snow event Ian f alluded to a couple days ago. it's been on several gfs ensembles, now an op - interesting
  12. ah those highly accurate BBC graphics. that's that nailed then Tho people right on the coast might fail to see settling snow, but should still have some falling
  13. I thinks it's the second front that your missing. If I was in cambs I would be quite hopeful. this eve we have a second front coming up from the sw which will reinvigorate snow over Midlands and then slide a bit s / se where it stalls until it slowly dies during tomorrow. then Sat night into Sun morning we have more showers and cambs is in a decent location for both 'events'. here in s herts it's more knife edge but I've got my fingers crossed
  14. some nice convective showers here quite heavy too, leaving a light dusting everywhere. Mostly snow and a bit of hail. Praying for a rumble!!
  15. congrats to all of u who have had a good dumping nothing here in herts, a bit disappointing but we did well in jan and feb so can't complain! one thing that i can say (just about) is that yesterday's few flakes here mean that i have seen falling snow in 4 consecutive months! even 2010 didnt manage that!
