  1. Wettest day here so far this year was 26.8mm, and was on Wednesday. Does anyone think that could be beaten today?
  2. This doesn't look too good. 160mm of rain in areas that don't need it, most of it coming from the areas of rain tomorrow and Monday.
  3. Amber warnings now out for the SW and the yellow area removed for Sunday and made slightly smaller. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/
  4. Yep, more than enough with the saturation of the ground already. I hope they didn't mean 5 inches - I don't fancy 125mm of rain :S
  5. Am I missing something, or is 5 inches a lot more than 60mm?
  6. 14mm of rain today and it's still falling. Hopefully it will have moved out soon, then things can dry out tomorow before Saturdays deluge.
  7. Wow, it's not often we see gusts of 50-60Mph that far inland. And I'm also worried about what the possibly explosive system could do to the SW over the weekend. Rivers are at breaking point, if not already burst their banks, and fields have turned into duck ponds.
  8. Squall is currently making itself known here. About 5mm of rain in a few minutes. Flooding is going to be an issue if this keeps up for much longer.
  9. Been a hectic 2 days as far as the weather is concerned. Yesterday was the wettest day of the year, and today has seen the hgihest wind gust of the year in my town. More to come still!
  10. I think the squall will arrive here in the next hour, and after everyone elses experiences with it on here, I can't wait! Nothing much in the way of severe weather at the minute though. Max gust today is 40mph as of last hour.
  11. Does anyone know what time the squall line should hit Swindon/Wilts? It looks quite intense. Stay safe everyone.
  12. Good ol' blustery day here. Max gust only 36mph according to the weather station, but I think there have been 40+mph gusts around here, atleast it felt like it was stronger walking home.
  13. 30mm of Rain here today in Swindon, and everything is underwater. The brook near me has joined with the field around it and doens't look like it is going to go down. All of the fields have turned into ponds. Not good.
  14. The amount of rain forecast in the SouthWest over the next few days seems to be rising instead of increasing. Now saying 33mm in Swindon tomorrow, with another 30mm spread over Thursday and Friday.
  15. Not nice to see the warnings over the SW. Despite having only 27mm of rain so far this month the ground is very saturated still, and with the 5mm we have had today the rivers are already rising fast. Not good..
  16. No, I don't think so. The snow didn't settle here, but it has been freezing all day. Max temp os 5.8C here today with a minumum of just above freezing
  17. Snowing quite heavily here in Swindon this morning! First snowfall of the seadon!
  18. Wow, that wasn't expected. temps went from 5.6C to 2.7C in about 45 mins, Dew point is now at 1.7C.
  19. Temp here in Swindon is still 5C - Too warm for sleet I think. It has started raining nicely though.
  20. Well, that squall dropped half an inch of rain and some 30+mph gusts. Monthly rainfall total now 107mm, and pressure 976 and falling.
  21. I think the squall is over us right now - Very heavy rainfall and gusts probaly not too far of 40mph! Very nasty outside!
  22. Rain started to pick up now, and pressure still falling. Down to 982mb.
  23. Currently 10.9C and getting windier with gusts up to 27mph. Pressure dropping off at about 1.2mb/h currently at 983. Looks set to get wetter and windier throughout the day.
