  1. Overcast and dull 21c, at least it's not raining! Where's the sun that was forecast?
  2. An overcast start with light rain late morning followed by a partial clearance until 3pm when the rain proper arrived. A cool day for July with a max of only 18.6c and it's now been raining for the last 6 hrs.
  3. A bright and breezy morning until around lunchtime when cloud increased from the SW. There then followed a thunderstorm together with a downpour of the likes I have not seen for many years. Roofs were like waterfalls and roads turned into small rivers and it lasted for a good 10 to 15 min so it would be interesting to see what the rainfall totals were. Currently partly cloudy with sunny spells and 19.8c in a light south westerly.
  4. Torrential rain and a thunderstorm between 0700 - 0800 with a fair amount of lightning which then drifted away to the North to leave moderate rain showers which lasted until approx lunchtime. The afternoon was then dry and increasingly sunny helping temps to rise to 22.7c. Feeling muggy in a light/moderate south easterly. There currently looks to be some very heavy rain/storms to the east of York heading North.
  5. A cool and overcast morning with outbreaks of drizzle/light rain only slowly giving way to brighter conditions after lunchtime. Hazy sunshine late in the afternoon helped raise temps to 23.7c but unfortunately another disappointing day despite the promising forecast.
  6. Maybe I'm in need of some sun!! It seems to have been very dull recently!! Well this is the moaning thread!!
  7. After the recent run of poor days (including today) here I'm sorry to say that the up and coming good spell will be too little too late for me. No matter how sunny or warm it gets. Moan over.............
  8. Another poor day, the fourth on the trot. Cloudy, windy and feeling cool in moderate showers with a temp of 17.1c.
  9. Mostly cloudy with the odd sunny spell, currently 16.9c so milder than yesterday but still very poor for July.
  10. Dull & damp 12.6c. Yesterday reached the dizzy heights of 15.2c, lets see if we can beat that today!
  11. Conditions very similar to yesterday, cloudy and windy with occasional rain/drizzle. Feeling very cool for the time of year (again!).
  12. Mostly cloudy, windy and cool with the odd shower around.
  13. Another grim day in store. Cloudy and dull with moderate rain. At least it's not windy though.
  14. An appalling day for late June. Cold, cloudy wet and windy with a temp of 11.3c, could be mid-Nov out there.
  15. A mostly cloudy day with the odd sunny spell and some light rain around late afternoon. Feeling chilly at times in the moderate north westerly with a max of 17.7c.
  16. A clear start with a light westerly after an overnight low of 8.9c. The met office station at Topcliffe reported a min of 4.4c, I guess that must be the coldest June night for some years. Anyone know?
  17. Heavy morning showers gave way to somewhat drier conditions after lunch although there is still the occasional spell of drizzle being blown on a gusty north westerly. Temp has only reached 14.9c and it sounds like some of the neighbours may have their heating on.
  18. Quite a pleasant day with good sunny spells and just a light westerly, completely at odds with this mornings met office forecast.
  19. Overcast with light rain, wind almost calm. First day of summer in the northern hemisphere tomorrow, looking at the forecast its in name only!
  20. I see some parts of central europe are pushing mid 30's today.
  21. Mostly cloudy but mild start after an overnight low of 12.4c. A pleasant, dry day is forecast for the North of England but rain today has a big band of rain marching north???
  22. Yes I agree, last year Harewood House classic car show (which is today) was cancelled as was the Great Yorkshire Show. Yesterday was mostly dry with some good sunny periods, it was just the timing of the downpour that was most unfortunate.
  23. Went to Otley carnival this afternoon, the parade started at 1.15pm and a minute later the heavens opened. Really felt sorry for the kids in the parade, some of them were crying but hats off to them they kept on going. After the parade (which was great!) it cleared up with blue skies and sunshine for the rest of the afternoon until another downpour at teatime. Come on mother nature, give us a break!
  24. A day of sunshine and heavy showers pushed along by a moderate westerly with a max of 16.6c.
