  1. This is not always the case though, currently we have a cold stratosphere yet the US is very cold at the moment.
  2. Exactly, a record breaking cold spell could be around the corner for all we know. But people seem to think they can write months off. The famous Winters didn't get going until after Christmas. Also It's not as simple as saying 'the pv is strong so we can't get cold', what an easy job it would be for forecasters if they thought 'lots of purple on this chart, Winter's going to be mild!'
  3. Two 12z ECM's in a row have showed a North-Westerly at day 10, if they verify the forum would go into meltdown after finally getting out of this pattern.
  4. Emotional rollercoaster in November 2009 you also wrote of Winter...
  5. The mild charts are just as likely to change so it's all good
  6. This should help: http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/67869-bartlett-set-up/
  7. When are the models ever 'on the money' in FI, just because they are showing mild conditions does not mean they've got any more chance of verifying than if they were showing cold. The Bartlett term is incorrectly used far to often, which is evidenced yet again here.
  8. Far to much importance is put on the Polar Vortex, your post would suggest to me that without a 'favourable' polar vortex then you can't get cold, which simply isn't true.
  9. One positive to take out of this is James Madden will have some questions to answer.
  10. Just as everyone was writing the first half of December off, out comes the ECM!!!
  11. The GEM is coming out now should be interesting, can it keep up the Easterly trend? T+48
  12. November was written off too as a mild month, the models at very best can only forecast 7 days in advance accurately, so what happens after that is anyones guess. Far to much importance is placed on the PV, it would be easy to forecast the weather if all you did was look at the pv...
  13. Someone in Siberia will be thinking the same except the other way round
