  1. The only type of duck I want to see this weekend is that from Aussie batsmen....
  2. Also that July 1990 was the first fairly decent July ending in "0" since 1900. July 2000 was poorish, July 2010 was very poor for west and north, much better to south and east July 2020 was poor.
  3. For late July, that is a shocker Not far off this terrible chart from the end of July 1956 which gave summer gales
  4. I think ECM need to readjust their scale on the 2m graphs, not one ensemble reaches the 25°C threshold
  5. Manchester Summer Index 1976 301 1995 298 1983 278 1955 277 1911 274 2018 272 1984 271 1959 269 1975 268 1949 267 1989 262 2022 261 1947 255 1933 251 1901 249 1921 249 2003 247 1925 246 1935 243 2023 243 (up to 17th July)
  6. July 1988/1989 contrast July 1910/1911 There's going to be a contrast between this July and last July. I think the greatest contrast will probably be more with sunshine and rainfall levels.
  7. I think you misunderstand my post. I'm talking about comparing this July with July last year.
  8. It's looking more and more that's it going be one of those occasions where there' s a contrast between this month and its predecessor last year. July 2006/2007, August 1911/1912 were spectacular examples for summer. Other examples January 1795/1796 for winter March 2012/2013 for spring November 1993/1994 for autumn
  9. Terrible ECM 12z 240 chart. Blackpool/Southport/Morecambe in that at the start of the school holidays. Luckily its 240hrs away and not just 48hrs
  10. I noticed that with Matt Hugo as well. People forget last August had a CET of 18.7 and was very dry for the EWP
  11. I will be absolutely amazed if we did this decade because based on the simple fact that we only recently recorded a 20C for the first time during a winter month only as recent as 2018-19. Also the warmest winter month ever recorded, December 2015, which had a CET of the equivalence of a very warm April never recorded one 20C at all, anywhere. A winter with regular 20+C ? this decade?
  12. Mid July 1973 was grim for central parts of the UK with prolonged heavy rain causing floods caused by a slow moving pressure. 1973 is not a year that you associated with wet weather and floods. It was a very dry year overall for England and Wales. Manchester recorded around 73mm over 16th and 17th July 1973 Manchester Evening News Grimsby Hull Stoke Liverpool Brigg North Wales
  13. That was interesting that little feature that gave that storm this morning . Can be seen on my timelapse from 1.55 onwards as it developed
  14. That was interesting that little feature this morning that brought the storm to Greater Manchester. Can be seen on my timelapse from 1.55 onwards as it developed
  15. Manchester Summer Index 1976 301 1995 298 1983 278 1955 277 1911 274 2018 272 1984 271 1959 269 1975 268 1949 267 1989 262 2022 261 1947 255 1933 251 1901 249 1921 249 2003 247 2023 247 (up to 15th July)
  16. Couldn't have been that many wet ones. It's one of the driest Augusts on record. 10th driest on record for England and Wales and 4th driest for the SE.
  17. I don't think it has been as bad as July 2020 up to now but I can only speak for my location but that was a shocker that first half (July 2020).
  18. Looks like thunder chances are disappearing. Missed most of the showers here.
  19. Greenwich in July 1913 only recorded 105 hrs of sunshine
  20. Outside any local records, July 1944 was the worst. An absolute shocker for sunshine.
