Outside any local records, July 1944 was the worst. An absolute shocker for sunshine.

The Manchester 0z ECM ensembles are nothing to write home about. It is looking like it could be August for any hope of a return to summer

That dry spell seems an age ago now.

Regionally, June 2023 is the 3rd sunniest June on record, sadly July isn't going to be near that level of sunshine.

14th July 1975 thunderstorms

2nd July 2006 was a beast. It was a hot sultry day,cumulus clouds were developing during the afternoon then all of a sudden, it was like as if some had turned the tap on suddenly and it absolutely tipped it down. The rain was phenomenal, there was pea-sized hail and intense CG lightning, flash flooding. 3 hours later, it was sunny late evening and it looked as though nothing had happened.

Apparently Venus is at its maximum brightness, which will explain why it may have been a bit more obvious.

Can see Venus with sun still above horizon. It seems really clear this evening for some reason. You can see Venus in broad daylight if you know where to look. I have seen it when the sun was high up.

This summer is nothing like summer 2012, that summer exploded on the launchpad before it even took off. This summer is like a probe that was successfully launched but we have lost contact with and is adrift. Can we reconnect with probe and ergo get the summer back on course?

That was a beauty. Reached my area during the early hours of the Sunday when thunder sounding like a cannon going off woke me up. I thought it was a rogue thunder shower because there were only a couple of more widely separated rumbles of thunder. As I started to nod off, the thunder got more frequent and I looked out the window to be treated to a spectacular lightning display to my west. The storm moved away just as the dawn light started to drown out the lightning flashes. From a Bristol paper

It was pretty well advertised by the Met Office. It was mentioned in their forecast yesterday from about 1.55 (video) onwards

11th July 1995 There was a thunderstorm during the morning and another one in the afternoon.

Very little rain after all that just 0.4mm Disappointing weekend in terms of thunder.

Lol I missed today and yesterday although I did hear thunder yesterday.

Looks more and more my chances have gone. Activity is to my east
