Wind seems to have calmed a bit now, still frost in the shade even though no new frost last night. down to 2.2 now.
-
High so far today 4.7, wind gusting around 30 mph, and feels raw. Will probably keep the frost away again tonight from here, as still air is best for that.

You may have wind directly off the sea, down there in Dover, Alexis?
Yep about 18 mph, that's probably the reason.

After seeing the forecast earlier in the week I wasn't expecting Thursday night into Friday morning to be the coldest of the week so far !! -5.5c here
I think the cold has moved north a bit, much less frost around this morning here, there's some where yesterdays didn't melt that has been reinforced, but nothing new, even cars don't need defrosting. May be a mile up the road is different though.

This is what Steve Murr noticed at 120hrs ECM, cold easterly for South East England.
It's already here unless we warm up and get cold again
14 minutes ago, Seasonality said:Why does he talk about a "charmed life." The south isn't suffering blizzards or an extreme freeze or a hurricane etc. Funny how some presenters like to exaggerate, like describing 7°C in January as a cold day. No disrespect to Mr Hammond, I suspect it is all part and parcel of entertaining as you inform.
It's no where near 7c here, my high today was 2.3 and it's freezing right now in the -. Frost everywhere. No blizzard I agree, would love one to show up from somewhere soon though. It hasn't warmed up here since the cold spell, in fact it's got much colder.

Ah, such a pretty morning, sunlight though mist is lovely - nothing like forecasted over the weekend. I didn't think it was that cold - but I scraped my car only for it to freeze up again while in Tesco! And when your car is 17 years old, it's tricky! My locks refroze in the car park and I had try various methods to unfreeze it!! I must have looked like a right lemon, though!!
It probably happened to others too. Just checked my temp, it's is only 1.9 out now at 13:00. Didn't expect that.

Temp went down to -1.2 over night here, only just got to plus figures now at 0.2 Patchy cloud about. Not much of a breeze.
-
Wind has swung around to the ene where it at 0 all day now. DP starting fall a tad, curently 3.1

About to get some showers from the north sea here. To warm for them to do anything at 4.5 at the min though. Has that front moved west a bit since this morning?
-
Here it's alternating between sunny and cloudy, no rain as yet, high of 2.9 today so far.

Looks like there is a bit of freezing rain about tonight judging by radar!
Would make sense, as the uppers are quite warm, but the surface temps in some area's are below freezing. Perfect for freezing rain unfortunately, and on reading the warning for the east it does sound like ice will be more prominent than snow.

Alexis makes a very good point, I'll use Heathrow an example, they are forecast for rain starting at 5am but like Alexis states its moving down quicker and will certainly be with Heathrow long before 5am unless the front edge keeps getting swallowed up
Interesting for those that keep the colder Temps longer!
Well my temp and DP are already on there way up, just by a couple of points, however as the low was only 0.5 and the DP was-0.5 and is now -0.3, I doubt it'll be cold enough here. I'm sure it may be else where though.
-
Looks like the rain is already on it's way, is it a bit early?
It's already as far south as central wales in places.
-
I have clear skies and frost everywhere.
-
To my west showers would probably fall as rain today, feels relatively warm out, so not fussed they are missing me.
-
Highest gust 54 mph here now.
Just look out and as it's plastics and paper recycling day, there's plastic bottles and cardboard blowing about.
