I find it quite funny that a couple of the usual doubters and moaners are reporting rain and mild conditions whilst elsewhere across the region its snowing !!
That's because certain areas just seem to be incredibly unfavourable for snow. I'm giving up on tonight now. Enjoy the snow those of you who have it.

Raiiiiiiiiiiiiiin, falling down my window paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Tonight will be all about 2 things
A bit of elevation -
PPN intensity rates- you will need to be in the Green echoes on the radar to get that ZDL level right down to the ground ( unless Herts which is already there )
Nowt here other that rain & sleet & a few snow flakes- as we are at ground level --- I hate Sh*tehithe.
How do you think I feel being stuck in the snow free zone of Rochester?
-
-
Heavy snow settling on grass
So tempted to move back to Harrow. Rochester is the most snowless place on earth. It stole that total from Harrow when I moved down here, mind you!
-
North home counties, Midlands and Kent appear to be in the sweet spot. North of the M25 if you like.
Not all of Kent, trust me!
-
As said times up for >West Sussex, & the SW of East sussex warming up now- this will filter up into Kent, the central belt ( for example places like Tonbridge- along that line out to Crawley - & turn it all back to rain & sleet.
Further North its hang on time, -- Sweet spot will as ever be Herts- up at the higher elevation.

Its never even got cold enough for snow here anyway. Heavy sleet pouring down.
-
Sleet. Should have known it would be another non-event here.
-
Even central London gets more snow than Medway.
-
Here in Medway (Rainham) it's been snowing pretty well for the last hour or two. Cars have wet snow settling on them, there is snow settling on grass, and our shed roof is completely white now. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Wow, the Medway snow shield has a hole in it!
-
Its game over for the south of the region-
Poss even south of the thames-
Where will the line go.........
S
When did the game begin? I'm still waiting for winter to begin here!
-
Still sleeting. The Medway snow shield just won't give up this winter!
-
Still quite light sleet here in Rochester. I fear the Medway snow shield may be working overtime again!
-
Central london=yukk. :-(
Rained all blooming day,be glad to get home, rather soaked through just now
How's the rain/sleet/snow (Delete as appropriate) in medway?
Very wet snow/sleet. Not very heavy.
-
Temperature 2 degrees, dew point 1 degrees (according to weather.co.uk). Can't be far from snow now!
-
Rain turning sleety in Rochester.
-
Looks like the snow is settling up on the Downs.
-
Am I the only one who loves rain to snow events? I love the transition and the suspense lol
(as long as it does turn to snow!)
Rain to snow events can actually produce larger snowfalls than pure snow events under the right conditions!

London & South East England
Snow 0600 on Sun 10 Feb 2013Open/Close
Issued at: 1148 on Sun 10 Feb 2013
Valid from: 0600 on Sun 10 Feb 2013
Valid to: 0700 on Mon 11 Feb 2013
Rain is expected to gradually turn to sleet and snow as it spreads eastwards during Sunday. Settling snow will be mostly limited to the south Pennines at first, but is likely to become rather more widespread by evening. Even then, cover is likely to be variable, with some places seeing very little, others 2-4 cm and with the potential for 10 cm or more over parts of the south Pennines and 5 to 10 cm for Kent, and more locally over the Midlands and Essex.
Overnight into Monday morning, there is a risk of an area of snow moving westwards across parts of the south Midlands, east and southeast Wales and southern England, with a few cm in places, particularly over higher ground. This warning is updated to cater for this risk.
The public should be aware of the risk of disruption, particularly to travel.

Surrey sweet spot again? LOL
One of them was mine -.- mine was not a guess it was based on the latest NAE out put hum!
Your's was the best I've seen, and it has nothing to do with me being in the red zone
-
From another thread I read...
Don't agree with that. I think eastern Kent will see some of the highest totals whilst parts of East Anglia are likely to see none.
-
According to those on the grown up thread we are going to have a 'slush fest', boring...
They also talk down the possibility of snow in the South East (I get the impression they don't like us very much).
-
BBC forecast just now was beautiful. All of London and the South East covered in snow. It did show some of it turning to sleet and rain in the early hours though.
-
Snow looked more widespread on the BBC forecast just now. Looked better for Western parts of our region.

So a respite from the relenting sleet? Phew!
