  1. They'll have to extend that warning at least, plenty of places north of London will see snow tonight getting close to if not into that range.

Parts of the western part of this zone will likely go into the 5-10cms range by midnight I suspect, which probably is good enough for an upgrade to amber. It won't be the whole area, but an extension IMO is needed.

No it's not. Nowhere in our region is seeing that much snow or will see that much snow. At most places to the North of London may see a covering. No need for a warning for that. If this ends up a big snow event and parts of our region see 10cms of snow I will eat my own face.

  2. I do suspect the Met Office will issue an upgrade, plan as day that this system is further NE than was forecasted by any model even on their 12z runs. With that being said I wouldn't go too crazy with possible snow amounts just yet, ratios won't be that great given the temps we currently have over the area.

Still something of a surprise event, so can't complain!

They have a yellow warning out covering areas to the South and West of London which is sufficient for the 2-5cms of snow these areas are likely to see. No need to issue warnings for other parts of the region because they will see a covering at most. Some people are going so OTT on here.

  3. From all that stuff on the radar and another 8hrs of snow? the last of the snow has barely left France and it is moving at snails pace

Look at all the orange and red bits on the NW radar too

Biggest single fall since Feb 2009 without doubt

The front is barely moving North anymore. Some areas that are under the ppn on the radar are reporting nothing. Some areas (mainly near the coast) are seeing snow turning to rain or sleet rather than snow throughout. There's a reason the professionals (i.e. the Met Office) only have a yellow warning out and have only covered areas to the South and West of the region.

  4. True looking at xcweather yeah but what is interesting me is the back edge if you can call it that, or for easier terms the right edge is still creeping further up the Channel towards the Lower North Sea.

Which if so even with a move West it'll pass us and the Thames smile.png

It is very close to us on the radar so fingers crossed. Would be nice to see a few flakes and even better if we can manage a covering on top of the existing snow cover.
