yes, shouldn't even be a debate about stronger Feb sun, I know definitely, especially mid Feb to late Feb, the sun shines on more surfaces thawing more snow, than exactly same setup at say Xmas
Thing I have definitely noticed as winters become milder, in 90's it used to be April, then March, and now Feb, in 5 years likely to be creeping forward, to maybe early Feb
before my 'internet' days, only had bbc weather, but this by bbc was a fail, promised me a snowfest, and nothing
but at least I had the 'new' Atlantic 252 to help the disappointment of no snow!
March is a month when I want either a repeat of 2013, or warm sunny, dry and very mild/warm, would love a 20°, but also would love snow
it's the usual inbetween crap, westerlies 8° windy and wet that nobody wants
really does vary, for my location off a showery Atlantic flow, I need -10 or lower, Arctic showery -7 ish, Easterly showery -5 ish
frontal/battleground with E or SE/SSE winds -2 will do, anything Atlantic air frontal, then -10
If I was the express I would go the other way, 'Floods to sweep Britain', Britain to be flooded out', Britain faces 6 weeks of storms, Britain to suffer mildest winter on record
6.8C, dominated mostly by low pressure and the Atlantic, wet month all round, maybe change towards very end with northern blocking, which will dominate April E winds
