  1. Daff's in flower down here, primroses aswell. Look's like we might get an easterly next week. Whilst it might lower the temp's here, they are usually V.dry and sunny. TBH i don't like them much, dry burning winds with sod all chance of snow.
  2. Damm right, and proud of it! Are you the house that mums miss out when doing trick-a-treating,i wonder?
  3. Why are you such a "mildy" Knocker?? Don't you get fed up with the endless wind and rain we get down here? I agree, cornwall is a great place to live but don't you think a bit of the white stuff once every decade or so,might be nice? For me,it's what makes snowy weather that bit more precious here. Have a heart Knocker, give us coldies a break.
  4. Sorry JH. Just looked back and it was someone else who replied to Ian.
  5. Thanks ssib Understand the pattern just wasn't aware of the term. JH implied when responding to Ian's post last night that such a pattern may not be good for the south.
  6. Can i ask 2 questions, What exactly is a more MERIDIONAL pattern as apposed to a zonal pattern and secondly, why would such pattern be poor for cold in the south? Cheers.
  7. Welcome to winter 2015. Blowing a hoolie and peeing down. Feel like iv'e been here before.
  8. South/south west wind picking up now, sign of things to come. Last 3 days have been great,3 frosts on the trot,2 long walks with the dogs, breaking ice in the puddles. All ready, this winter beats the whole of the last one. If that's it for this time well,i'll be sad but at least i've seen a bit of ice. Not to shabby for down here.
  9. If you don't look more than 7 days away, how is it you can right off the whole of jan by saying you hope something is in store for feb? 7days from now is Jan 6th! Having said that,i take your point. Presonally,i don't look much more than 5 days ahead.
  10. Looking at the models, first 10 days of jan now looking poor for cold. That's a big chunk of winter gone for me, down on the lizard. Once we get passed about valentine's day(feb14) the chances for any prolonged cold spell disappear very quickly. Hope i'm wrong but getting that sinking feeling again for this winter. Hey-hoe,maybe next winter.
  11. Been raining since before dawn, quite heavy at times. Wind picking up to. Sorry but can't get exited, absolutely zero chance of anything even remotely wintry here, same old same old. Least the days are getting longer
  12. Jan 87,only time iv'e seen proper snow in 40 years of living here, certainly the holy grail.
  13. Honestly cant remember 1 cold day last winter here. Pretty sure i never saw a frost, and def not a snowflake. TBH,this winter is already better, had to scrape the car windscreen 1 morning last month. Believe me,scraping a windscreen is a major talking point down here, dont appen often love'r
  14. What happened to glacier point? Used to love reading his posts, didn't understand a word of it but loved it just the same.
  15. Keep seeing this. Cant remember last xmas day here. Know 1 thing for sure,it weren't snowing. Was it that cold???? Course,i do live in cornwall, mildest spot on the planet
  16. Don't think i like Ian's tweet much tbh. Think for us,down here, his reference to severe weather can only mean 1 thing,GALES AND RAIN. Couldn't stand a repeat of last winter
  17. Oh well,i'll put my new snowboard away again. My new years resolution, become a "mildy",far less stressful.
  18. If we can get the winds high enough(n/w) for long enough,we've got a chance. To much north wind, sunny and cold,to much west, cold and damp. Norwester seems to work for us,down here.
  19. The exitment got the better of me,been lurking for a while, forgot my password. Wouldn't it be nice to see something wintry over the holidays. Long time coming.
  20. Watched a forecast last night where the south west got buried in snow while the rest of the uk got wind and rain. Trouble was,i woke up.
