Winter Cold

haha, yes its been a pretty long and tiring few months in the main hasnt it! I agree though, keep the faith, March seems to be the new winter a lately.... Those next showers seem to be on a better track for Barnsley

Yes it was a good day yesterday, felt like mid winter at least. Very cold and the trees and ground looked great in the thick frost and fog. Best winter's day this season! Shame that shower missed you but yes there's a chance of more coming in overnight, keep watching

Yeah I hope so. Things maybe keep coming in waves overnight...a definite gap after this though. Just want as many of us to wake up to a covering in the morning as possible. That's how desperate this winter has become haha

We can hope, but they are losing intensity quickly as they approach Rotherham at the moment so I'm not too hopeful. Don't forget the precipitation type radars are not real, they are model projections of what conditions can support snow so are often wrong. Only the position of the precipitation is correct.

Nice to see proper snowfall this morning in Sheffield while at work. Nothing major but certainly the best snowfall of the winter lol! Guess that's not hard really

Well today was a great day really after the snow disappointment. It's been very cold, only maxed out at -1.7 on my station so a good ice day. The trees looked brilliant with thick frost on them. Best winter's day in ages I think

My brother lives in northern Colorado and he always sends me pics and videos of deep snow. he's had half a dozen good falls already ! Is a great climate over there. cold snowy winters and hot summer's, best of all worlds lol. Can even go storm chasing and watch tornadoes too! I'm extremely jealous haha

I don't pay any attention to snow depth charts, look at all the lovely pink blobs that were showing for today and 99% of us have nothing! Utter rubbish

Raining Inn Sheffield right now but lots of ppn to come looking at radar and intensity looks good. As the afternoon goes on the temps should drop. Hopefully will see snow. Current conditions at home though aren't good, 3c with dew point 2c!

at least up here we have chances all week for snow I think. As well as the two main front events we're at risk of showers and troughs all week its so cold and unstable air. I'm going to be very disappointed if we don't get laying snow at some point by this time next week!

I'm still hopeful tomorrow. Certainly cold out there now and snow supportive. Current dew point below -2! Meto website shows rain to heavy snow as per warning. I wouldn't worry too much if it starts as rain, we just need to get some intensity really. Thursday also looking good, here's hoping we do get some snow this week

Hi Yes its looking 'interesting' next week. Lots of choping and changing i agree but we at least have a chance of seeing some proper snow next week. First time this winter really - my total so far is 1 hour of falling snow last Friday evening lol. *sigh* I hope the cold hangs on, I was hoping February would finally deliver from the SSW as its expected to finaly flush down to the trop next week into early Feb. The dissapointment for me is 2nd week of Feb the EPS are trending up, ECM keeps going mild and if you look at the GEFS graph that is also just looking average for then. Plenty of time to change for the better though. Heres hoping ey ?️

Im glad the hunt for cold thread is back, thats the one which is the busy one. The other thread is just quiet now so i just stick to that one and just pick my way through carefully. You know who to take notice of and who to ignore For us, well, just seems like a milder blip next weekend, but only up to average and then back down again. Thats how its looking for now.
