  1. Sorry for trespassing your airspace Some nice pictures of Princetown, Dartmoor in snow.
  2. Good to see you back Sno' problem a long hopefully fulfilling night beckons the wretched UHI and now some cloud cover is causing temperature to really not go that low, precip please take your time.
  3. All of this is all going SE I think that is premature to say.
  4. Yes I'm not dismissing that but in that part of the world danger lurks in boundary between rain/snow for our most western peeps I have my doubts, big risks big rewards?
  5. Hi mate, that trianglar region well many in it will see rain ect parameters are not so good also factor in precipitation is moving southeastwards many will remain dry altogether, the current radar imagery depicts a good trajectory for London & Home Counties. I'm pleased with my graphic, I will not be making changes. Here it is again (putting accumulations aside).
  6. Just for fun this is how I see it Best case scenario I'm a tad anxious about the timing the darker depths of the night the better for settling snow, the eastern extent may be too great but by looking at the radar, that is what I'm feeling with precip currently over Scotland & NW England, I sense it will fall wet and yucky west of Oxford as the 850hPa temps are a little high. Critique if you'd like but I've been rather close in past events, I'm totally not with the Met Office view of things!
  7. HI, well no. Cold air sinks in a sense it goes down, it is less dense than warm air, warm air rises. Benson a famous frost spot in England, Oxfordshire, is a good example of this - cold air which accumulates at elevation, descends into the valleys. Most notable is the minima, typically at elevation maxima is colder than valleys vice versa on minima.
  8. Don't quote me but I believe that band of snow over scotland is the evening snow expected to move southeastwards, unrelated to Welsh precip, the 'warmth' and instability of flow is causing Irish Sea to bubble up some showers.
  9. I'm getting very excited If I was a Scottish inhabitant I'd be wondering what the fuss is, coming up 3 years since IMBY we saw its last decent snow, I'm somewhat hopeful tonight the timing is my only concern.
  10. "Outbreaks of sleet and snow will spread from the northwest on Saturday, initially into western Scotland, and then into parts of northwest England later in the day before reaching the Midlands and southern England during the evening and night. 1-3 cm snowfall is likely at low levels with 5-10 cm possible above 200 metres across western Scotland and Cumbria. Ice may prove an additional hazard in places. Please be aware of the potential for some travel disruption and difficult driving conditions. A frontal zone moving eastwards into Britain on Saturday will run into and stall against the cold airmass which became established over the UK earlier in the week. This allows rain at the leading edge of this frontal zone to turn to snow and persist for several hours before the frontal zone weakens during Sunday, allowing less cold conditions to start developing and some of the snow to start melting. This snow is expected to fall along a relatively narrow corridor, perhaps only 100 miles wide, which means that some areas within the warning area may escape much of the snow. Meanwhile, where snow is limited or rain occurs instead, icy stretches may develop on untreated roads as rain and snow starts."
  11. Thought I would share, you do not see that everyday I'll tell you that.
  12. Bank la ARPEGE!!!!! C'est fantastique adds some meat to the bones considering it is a high res model A lot of us would be happy aside from EA however I do not see it ending up like below Enough from me, night folks
  13. Apologies for my disgraceful Geography. The E4 has quite a different take on it, oh well there's no fun without the drama.....will it snow in Cardiff? That is the question!
  14. E4 has updated with the following interesting ...! Wet bulb seems a little on high side more so to the W this looks to be the foe awkward for forecasters and I cannot believe it has not been picked up yet? The rest of the parameters are OK could even settle?...much uncertainty
  15. It is not an assumption it is based on probability & factor in the uncertainty forecaster mayhem if anything precip is more likely to be snow to the E. Well interestingly E4 12Z has wintriness moving NW > SE in early hours of Sunday weakening as it does. The GFS on the other takes it to the West Country, which is quite frankly odd.
  16. Is that a ramp from Steve ;-) Well it's cold enough to snow pity there's no precipitation those showers did indeed catch a cold. I would most certainly not say no chance Ben, Monday is still up for the taking? With it being so unusually volatile in short range....
  17. Unfortunately I find weather broadcasts for cold spells & anything to do with snow v poor when it is mild it is more their forte, it's more easier for them. Start of next week looks set to feature significant snow somewhere in the country, I'm quite sure of that - but in my back yard, I currently think this is slim.
  18. All hail the ARPEGE. Yes please, London is ready to grind to a halt.
  19. Eurgh don't agree with that the least marginal parameters are to the E the West Country is where it is most precarious it would be snow, it counts for nothing if there's no precip.
  20. There's nothing to be corrected here. The wind vectors point towards our region just W of London is looking most ideal those showers will come our way just a case on whether they survive the journey - have some faith in yourself.
  21. A beautiful winter's day. Cold, sunny & icy (early in morning). Monday does interest me, I sense the frontal stuff will get as far as NW Kent. TIs speculation. @fulham snow dew points are of no concern in region IMBY the DP is -3*C!
  22. Looking at the radar I was pleasantly surprised these showers are heading SE let's hope they do not catch a cold.
  23. Cold week ahead on GFS gradually turning milder from west for parts of SE/EA it remains cold until the end of the week, however there would be no snow with uppers. Monday to Saturday -
