  1. I'm next to the Inn on the Lake and its persistent light snow with occassional heavy burst.....depth about 7cm
  2. Heaviest snow of the day here now.....visibility 40m tops......wind is howling..........everything covered and stacking up in sheltered spots. -2.3c
  3. Can see clear skies out to west but still on the edge of the showers here. A light covering everywhere and drifting in an eddys ( sheltered areas ). Temp -2c Be interesting to see if the channel low enhances or kills the convection. If its the former then it's gonna be a good night.
  4. Total whiteout in Bromley........everything covered in 5 minutes...heaviest of the day
  5. Cold, windy a few flakes.....one or two heavy showers have passed but any lying snow has just blown away
  6. Short sharp shower here.......left a few flakes on the car roof but melted on paths and road. Temp 0.6c Steady
  7. Remember BBC use essentially delayed info ( t -12hours ) so they would still be forecasting on last nights MO output. Looking at IanF's recent twitters it seems that MOGREPS back the EC solution albeit with a delayed timescale. Therefore in essence I would lean more towards a slight delay in GFS/EC solutions with the UKMO making inroads to the same conclusion on the 12z output later this afternoon.
  8. GFS is US centric, are they really going to give a hoot over the accuracy of their MRF in North West Europe?
  9. Massive flakes falling here but onto saturated roads etc...not stopped since yesterday at 9am to my knowledge. Temp 1.1c. NW extra radar says only sleet now but still generating in the Thames Estuary.
  10. Ye XC Weather shows the wind has veered just North of East so ideal for North Kent Coast ( Dover to Bexley ) if it continues.
  11. Still snowing lightly here ...about 5cm's on grass, cars etc but very wet composition and thawing fast. It has been a strange Winter to date, delivering a fair bit of Snow in marginal situations throughout. Strange also in the low frequency of Frost and dry weather. I think MRF has taken a step backwards also this winter....some of the forecasts in particualr by GFS & EC have been at times totally "out of kilter" with the anomolies shown only to be aligned from T48 down, To draw a balance though the "nowcasting " for Rain to Snow" has seen a general improvement particularly from our own MO and I'm sure this has helped our Emergency Services and the general public plan contingencies. Would really like to see some Dry weather now though, the fields and gardens are saturated from 10 months of almost constant rain.
  12. Must admit I am thinking the same, gfs London ensemble mean for 0z is above the 0c mark from Thursday through day 16.
  13. Temp steady at 0.7c after dropping to 0.4c earlier. Slushy mess on car windscreen , nought elsewhere....looks to be turning back to sleet again, no intensity unfortunately.
  14. Temp now 0.9c dropped 0.6c in minutes. Smaller flakes now as snow starts to dry , just starting to settle on grass. 100% snow now at 16:40
  15. First pink pixels appearing on NW Extra radar ( indicates Snow ) near Eythorne in East Kent
  16. DP's are lower towards the far South East. 3-4c between gatwick and stansted . Lowers to 0.5c at Manston then -1c at the Sandettie light vessel in the North Sea. Expect these to lower as the winds swings to east of south. Hopefully gonna be an interesting day in the SE corner.
  17. Its raining in New york atm.............................. http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/timessquare/index.php?goto=live
  18. FYI....See Piers C is ramping up the cold for UK & Europe in the next few days in his latest headline release..........http://www.weatheraction.com/displayarticle.asp?a=513&c=5
