  1. It has been named by AEMET , Spanish met DOMINGOS, different thread and very different low
  2. I think this is a really important aspect and as they add ensemble forecasting into the mix for the public, the communication needs wide consideration.
  3. Met Office twitter Thurs 2nd Nov 2023 Storm Ciarán has set a new record for the lowest mean sea level pressure recorded in England and Wales in November, with a value of 953.3 hPa (mb) in Plymouth and 958.5 hPa (mb) in St Athan The previous record in England was 959.7 hPa (mb), set in 1916 The previous record in Wales was 962.7 hPa (mb), set in 2010 The (November) record for the UK remains unbroken, and was set in Scotland in 1877 with a value of 939.7 hPa (mb)
  4. I saw this tweet "Storm Ciaran briefly brought winds reaching Hurricane Force 12 (73+mph) to the Island, gusts recorded at St Helier Harbour up to 83kt/96mph peaking around 4:30 a.m. this morning. Jersey Airport recorded a gust of 88kt/101mph. Coastguard at St. Helier recorded a gust of 89kt/102mph" from Jersey Met https://twitter.com/Jersey_Met/status/1720072734892576970 so even higher for Channel Islands
  5. AEMET trans. 'On Saturday the 4th a new storm, with characteristics similar to Ciarán, and recently named like Sundays, will affect the Peninsula. Again, it will be the rainfall, but above all the very intense wind and sea storm, the most significant phenomena, which will be more noticeable in the northwest quadrant of the peninsula. In this way, it is expected that the associated front system Domingos crosses the (Iberian) Peninsula on Saturday, leaving rainfall in its wake, which will be most important in Galicia and are not expected to reach the Mediterranean coast. With the rise of the snow level, snowfall will be restricted to high areas of the Pyrenees. The most Significant will once again be the west wind, which will blow with very strong gusts in the entire northwest quadrant, especially in areas of the Galician and Asturian coast, as well as in the mountain systems and plateau areas. These very strong gusts will extend during the afternoon to points of the eastern interior of the peninsula. Likewise, the maritime storm will be reactivated, in especially on the coast of Galicia, where significant waves could reach and even exceed the 8-10 meters of combined sea height" Looks unfortunate that there will be more rain and unsettled weather at the weekend for those trying to repair and clear up. There are still coastal areas from the Spring Tide damage, trying to sort shore issues. This is not a repeat for the Channel Islands. Met Office yellow warning for southeast counties of England - RAIN "Frequent heavy showers, along with gusty winds, are likely to cause travel disruption and flooding of a few places." "A spell of heavy rain followed by frequent heavy and blustery showers are expected to affect southern coastal counties during Saturday. Around 20-30mm of rain could accumulate in some places with perhaps as much as 40mm by the end of the day. Accompanied by strong winds along the coast, these showers are likely to cause flooding of a few roads, leading to travel disruption and possibly the flooding of a few homes and businesses. In addition, dangerous coastal conditions with large waves and spray are likely."
  6. A record of the ASXX and the current radar showing UKV low centre /isobars Rain has set in now around The Forth
  7. Ongoing flooding concerns at Tenby, but with wider Flood alerts over SW Wales "Flooding has become more extensive at the Kiln Park Caravan site. Residents at Kiln Park have been asked to leave site. Be aware some roads in this area may be closed. Due to the restriction of the tidal outfall, water levels will rise over the period of each high tide. The next peak is expected to occur at 11:30am, Thursday 2nd November. Water levels will fluctuate due to the rain overnight from Storm Ciaran. A continued trend of increasing river level is anticipated. It is possible river levels could reach the highest on record." Natural resources Wales Storm Ciaran has more rain to come, for Wales and back onto NE Britain as the northeasterly flow takes hold and the low centre stalls over the North Sea. There are rain warnings for the other aspect of this storm, more rain on saturated ground
