  1. I usually look foreward to warmth and sunshine around mid March, this year i'm making an exception...Met going for settled and then unsettled and mild until mid Feb... Model thread has resorted to desperate grasping at any teleconnection they can find that shows otherwise, mainly the Stat, which is getting a little tedious now, so, Roll on Spring!
  2. Sums up the sad state we are in really, mid January and a northerly, perfect conditions and timing for my location to see snow shower after snow shower as the Pembrokeshire Dangler sets up...well the second part worked well but we ended up with rain shower after rain shower...even the hills inland are green !
  3. Yes, a bit misleading... At least their medium term update today does recognise what the models are showing... 'High pressure in charge for the rest of January'.
  4. Is there a numptys guide (nice and simple) to the MJO index and the likely pattern in NW europe?
  5. Very Poor Update today in the medium timeframe...certainly not representative of model output...
  6. ECM gets an easterly flow at day 9....not quite a BFTE tho... Thats quite a shocking chart for the last week Jan in terms of continental cold!
  7. UKMO 168, mirrors their forecast, high pressure beginning to exert its influence on the UK. At this stage its a 2 way split, the further NW you are the cloudier, milder and damper the conditions, the further SE you are dryer, colder and sunnier. Looking like the high will center over the UK further out so improving elswhere. No sign of a return to wet and windy, certainly for the rest of Jan.
  8. The bane of a British winter sticks out like a sore thumb on those charts and its up to its tricks again....before anyone asks what im talking about...its purple!
  9. One thing that slightly annoys me is that those who whip the forum into a frenzee with multiple posts a day when a cold spell is over a week ago, posting extremes to see how many likes they get, then as we get into the reliable and it becomes evident its not going to be anything noteworthy....they all go awol! They will be back when the next snap is on the horizon with tales of how they have been busy digging the garden
  10. Another possitive this week with crisp clearer skies, we should notice a difference, especially at night of an increase in daylight after the last few weeks of gloom.
  11. Crewe is pointing out that the events in the Stratosphere should result in the polor vortex ( responsible for our current wet and windy spell ) being shifted away fron eastern Canada / Greenland area allowing high pressure to form at northern lattitude increasing potential of wintry spell for the UK late Jan or early Feb.
  12. My location has 1 day (Tuesday) at 4 c every other day in this much ramped about spell is 6 and 7, back to double digits by Friday. Oh and Tuesday is forecast dry all day
  13. Ecm 120...dare i say hilly areas near to western coasts being favoured spots during this cold spell, winds seem to be more nnw now with the low of interest now diving well south of the uk on monday. Looking like a coastal showery affair generally , not saying a small feature may crop up anywhere mid week before milder air moves in Thursday. .
  14. Very consistant with last night...nice synoptics but where has the cold gone from the east? Still, if the Scandi high becomes a longer term fixture it will surely return.
  15. Just watched and he said nothing cold next week just back to average with snow mainly for hills in the north. The track of Mondays low is favoured north of Scotland, now it looks like it may miss to the southwest. Edit.... Sorry was refferring to the video.
  16. If some of these trends and model runs do come to fruition, such as the gfs temperature maps Ali posted then the boys in Exeter have had a mare and need to delete their embarrassing 10 dayer pretty quick before many see it!
  17. Wouldn't it be Ironic (think thats a song) if we got to that stage....only to find all the deep cold to our east has vanished
  18. Be interesting to see how Nick S latest post goes down in the other thread...I posted something similar yeaterday in relation to snow being reserved to higher ground in the south, no reactions apart from a stroppy reply accusing me of being a moaner! Me, moaning ?!
