    Well looks like I was right that a few might see a few surprises. Just been out with dog got 8 cm here so far. Looks like getting to work is going to be fun.

    Just got a funny feeling they could be a few surprises tomorrow. Think my area will do well. But I also think lower ground may see a decent covering if the precipitation is heavy enough.

    Don't know about anyone else but I'm quiet looking forward to tonight and tomorrow we got a few cms yesterday and looking at tonight and tomorrow I would expect abit more than that looking at latest forecast happy days

    Looks like Huddersfield and Halifax are in prime position for tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully see abit more than a few cms tomorrow after yesterday's falls.

    Well the snow event for tonight into tomorrow looks great for my area heavy snow from 9pm tonight till 3pm tomorrow could be fun getting about tomorrow.

    Bbc forecast looking good for tomorrow night/fri morning looks a lot more organised band of snow than this morning. Should see a decent fall of snow from that.

    Said it earlier I think tomorrow night could possibly deliver the goods for our region. Looks like heavy snow into Friday morning aswell. But as ever the devil will be in the detail. The few cms we had earlier is starting to melt on pavement now let see what we get tomorrow night but I have high hopes.

    Thursday night into Friday is looking good at moment but we know that can change at least seen a few cms this morning.

    Well we have a few wet cms here this morning. For those that are abit dispondand this morning I wouldn't be as tomorrow night looks a lot more favourable with heavy snow lasting into Friday if things go to plan of coarse lol.

    Tomorrow morning does look interesting but the problem is it will mostly be all gone by early afternoon. Now Thursday night looks much more intresting think we could see a good dumping if it all comes together but as ever the devil is in the detail.

    Yes I think Thursday night looks a lot better than tomorrow. Firstly it will fall overnight. Trouble with tomorrow's event is by lunch time we will be looking at a watery slush mess. Not to say it won't be nice to see. But I know a lot crave settling lasting snow which with tomorrow mornings event I don't see lasting as temps are been shown around 7c by tomorrow afternoon on tv forecast. But as ever time will tell. But I think we stand a better chance Thursday night.

    I would be very wary of any snow accumulation maps the gfs churns out. We know the gfs tends to blow these out of all proportion. If the gfs had been anywhere close this winter my area would have seen at least 2 good snow events. Think apart from some wintry showers I can't really see anything apart from a dusting over many areas. Certainly no March 2013 event as Ian f has alluded too many times already.

    Yes but it doesn't really take control its a very brief ridge. Then we are all back into colder conditions once again.

    To be honest looking at the gfs ukmo so far this evening we see very little in the way of precipitation. Apart from a few flurrys down the coasts. Anyone thinking this will be a March type 2013 event are setting themselves up for disappointment. Looks to me from the output some harsh frosts and crisp sunny days with maybe the odd wintry flurry nothing out the ordinary for late Feb early March.

    Good day all round from the models today great update from Ian f earlier. I know a lot crave snow but cold and dry will suit many round here after all the flooding we have endured.

    Is it just me or does anyone else feel underwhelmed with the output tonight. Yes the gfs was a decent run but looks like the euros are slightly against the idea. I know the euros are better placed overall in the standings. Maybe model fatigue has set in for me but I'm certainly not banking on that gfs 12z run been anywhere close to what it's showing for back end of next week. But I would love the gfs to prove me wrong.

    And you just know that will be the outcome for the uk would sum this winter up.

    Great looking gfs 12z. But we have been here many times before. Think I will wait till at least Tuesday evening runs to see if these are still showing. Remember if it can go wrong for the uk it probably will. Wasn't we all suppose to see snow Thursday Friday last week from the models and look how that turned out. Will remain sceptical for the time been of the output but let's hope this time they are correct.

    So the ecm and ukmo show colder conditions moving in again next week. Looking like march will be a cold month listening to the experts. But to be honest cold and damp as Spring starts doesn't really sound great.

    Yes but goes onto say this doesn't mean pronounced cold or servere cold just a broad picture of the ukmo update.

    Looks like my slush puppy cup may become a rainy mess then winterof79 lol. What a poor excuse for winter. Roll on Spring now. Although they seem to think on mod thread winter is just around the corner into March. But haven't we heard that all winter ;0)
