Well, it was powdery at the beginning when it was lighter but now it's picked up, it's now bigger, wetter flakes but still settling on grass and cars!

In Oxford for the weekend and I can confirm moderate snow is now falling horizontal snow as well due to the strength of the wind!

How you guys in the South east holding up with this on the way? looks like a pretty decent band and it's not moving through quickly either!

In Oxford for the weekend again and it's snowing lightly here. The powdery type again looking at the radar, I bet the people in the South East thread are going berzerk with that band on the way. London goes balistic if they get a dusting

Bloody cold out there! I'm coming in here for a bit Yeah there is going to be a lot of water around when this lot melts! I live in Rushden but i'm down in Oxford for this weekend. When I left Rushden yesterday, there was around 4-5cm around. They had some more last night and tonight by the looks of it! Had a decent amount in Oxford too so I didn't miss out...

Amazing! Looks like shaving foam. The snow has looked a bit like that in this cold spell actually because of the powdery nature of it.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!! For the dudes up in Wawrickshire and Leicestershire... Do you think it's snowed enough up there this evening to affect the running of train services tomorrow? Meant to be catching the train up from Oxford to Leicester in the morning but at the moment, I can't see it going smoothly. Had quite a lot of snow in Oxfordshire today.

The models suggested it would go a bit further West than it is currently. Maybe it could come Northwards after all It's freezing rain on the south coast according to XCweather though but would be snow in the Midlands if it made it that far.

Bit surprised that this band is dying a slow death already. Meant to be still going strong at 10pm! Compare the 2 images.

Not a STH but loyal fan since a little boy harder to get to games now I don't live there anymore but i'll always be a blue.

Wonder of this will affect the Leicester vs Bournemouth game tomorrow. Meant to be travelling up from Oxford for it but if this stalls and gives Leicester a good 4-6 hours of snow, it may be enough for them to call it off because of the state of the roads around the ground! The pitch itself has under soil heating but I bet the roads will be chaos in the morning.

I'm surprised by people's disappointment in the lack of intensity of this band. It was never forecast to be heavy, just light-moderate with a few heavier bursts in places. Even though the flakes aren't big, it's still settling nicely! Had 2 hours of light-moderate snow in Oxford and it's accumulated 3-4cm on top of the 5-7cm we already had! I think it will stall now over the Midlands and give light-moderate snow for a good 4-5 hours now, possibly longer. Won't exactly be blizzard conditions but better than no snow at all!

Current state of play here in Oxford... Been snowing lightly-moderately for around an hour and a half now.

Only annoying thing for me personally is that this band is moving at a rate of knots through Oxfordshire! This will be over by 3:30pm here if it carries on like this. No sign of stalling yet for this area. Still, if it does clear by 3:30pm, this last 5 days has been a good event. Seen powdery snow of which I don't think i've ever seen in my 29 years. Was like sand blowing across the road!

I wouldn't worry too much. The band is moving Northwards pretty quickly at the moment. Should reach Telford with no problem.
