  1. Mark and Enforcer... You seen that PPN on the 06z run that is forecast for our area arouns midnight? It currently says rain/sleet but the temps are progges at 0-1c. So it's going to be a close run thing!
  2. That's weird because if you type in Glossop on Metcheck, it gives you about 3mm of precip over the whole day. And Metcheck's forecast is based on the latest model runs. Then again, I thought Netweather's was as well? How can they be so different. Confused.com
  3. We had one in Leicester back in 2008. No word of a lie, I was in the bath when it happened! Scared me to death. Lying there and all of a sudden, water starts moving and the bathroom shakes for about 5 seconds! I thought it was the apocalypse or something Nothing mate, dry as a bone
  4. I don't know if you were aware of this Jay, but I live with 4 Welsh people at the moment so I can do a cracking impression of the valleys accent Alright but, she's a bit tupp ya see!
  5. My Mum lives near Leicester City Centre but she said she didn't feel anything.
  6. Maybe the snow shield fell out of the sky?! Positive signs for you guys BRING ON THE SNOW!!
  7. I told you there would be some annoyed people when showers were missed by a matter of 10-15 miles At least you are in with a shout! Showers dying out 30 miles West of here for the past 3 hours.
  8. been there, got the t shirt! That snow shield up in Leicester used to be really strong. It did break down at the end of 2010 but it sounds like it's back working again now!
  9. They seem to be dying out before they get here maybe later on in the night we will see a few flurries. I have to cycle to work in the morning, which is 12 miles away! So the sensible part of me is hoping it stays snow free until I reach work. The other part of me is thinking... It can snow whenever it wants to dammit!
  10. There's some top banter in this thread that's the beauty of the regional threads, people get along most of the time and the rules aren't as strict as the mod thread! Sadly, can't see any showers reaching Oxford tonight but it looks like the South coast have showers incoming!
  11. Keep us updated Mark! You are my human Weather station haha. I don't have a scooby doo what the temp or D.P is here without your updates. I can guess by looking om Xcweather but the nearest station is about 8 miles away.
  12. Well at least my prediction was right for one person
  13. Anyone seen what's building over Wales in the last 45 mins on the radar?
  14. Exactly, very good point. PPN has popped up over Wales in the last 45 mins on the radar. Seemingly out of nowhere!
  15. We have thundersnow here now too!!!! Just seen a flash and heard a big rumble. Oh, wait hold on... Sorry, false alarm. It was a neighbour putting the bins out and our security light coming on.
  16. That's why i'm telling people not to worry about PPN charts at such short range. From past experience if these kind of setups, I have seen snow showers penetrate way inland when PPN charts suggested they wouldn't. That is what i'm expecting tonight and tomorrow. Plus with showers, they can crop up anywhere. Let's not moan about this cold spell until it's over. If by then anyone in here got naff all, you are entitled to moan all you like!
  17. I hear you knocking. I can see why that is a worry. To be honest, I think that later on this evening and overnight, the volume of showers going into Wales along with strong Nw'erly winds, will drive showers inland. The Welsh hills will probably zap some of them but because of the strength of the wind, they should survive.Edit: When I said that some areas should do well, I meant from snow showers rather than any substantial depths. I wouldn't rule out 3-5cm in some areas, but on the whole, 1-2cm dusting looks more likely. Still, better than nothing hey?
  18. In these situations though, shower distribution can change rapidly. The radar will be the best thing to follow now. I remember in 2010 when Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire got hammered from that Easterly, what the NMM high-res model was forecasting was about 50-100 miles wrong. I wouldn't take the EURO4 as gospel.
  19. Stay positive! Of course as is always the case with showers, they will be hit and miss. I'd be very surprised if there weren't snow showers piling in down the Western side by 9-10pm though.
  20. Have a break from it for a few hours and check it later Bet you can't though, it's addictive haha.
  21. I've just posted in the Midlands thread about my change of heart after looking at the models. I honestly think we'll start to see snow showers packing into Wales around 9pm ish and penetrating quite a way inland. It may look like there is hardly anything heading towards Western Wales at the moment but I fully expect that to change over the next 3-4 hours.I think Somerset is a good location for tonight and tomorrow. To be honest most of the Western side should do well. Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Gloucestershire all look to be in a decent position. I'm even fairly positive now about some snow showers coming as far inland as Oxfordshire, Reading, South Coast etc... It's going to be a case of radar watching and hoping luck is on your side!
  22. After being a bit cheesed off with Oxfordshire's lack of snow earlier, i've had a look at the models and I actually think it looks decent now for most of the Midlands. Tonight looks very interesting. I expect to see snow showers packing into Wales by 9pm ish and then throughout the night they SHOULD penetrate inland a fair distance. I'm hopeful that some showers will merge together to make small bands of snow, that is just my wishful thinkinf though I have seen it happen before mind you. Tomorrow looks like another interesting day. PPN also widespread across the Midlands on the models and I think just about anywhere could see snow showers.
  23. Those snow showers are absolutely packing into N.I! I reckon some places in N.I will have 3-4 inches by morning. In fact i'd say 3-4 inches at the very least!
