  1. Yeah that's right! Upper Road to be precise. I do like Oxfordshire on a whole, good place to live but bloody dear at the same time, haha. I'm thinking of investing in a weather station but don't want to pay any more than £100. Anyone got a suggestion?
  2. Ah, The Enforcer! I moved down the road to Kennington back in December, Abingdon was cool but Kennington was calling! Funny enough, I live on bit of a hill, according to earthtools, the house is about 90m ASL. That 50m height I gained might make all the difference (joking!)
  3. Another straw clutch from me here... Central Ireland is currently experiencing snow and temps of 0-1c. The 850's over those areas are around -2 to -3. Those are the same 850 temps that are expected to be over Central England tomorrow night. Good sign or just a straw clutch?Definitely interesting though. I stick to my thoughts on height being a massive bonus tomorrow night. Anywhere 200m and above should see a mostly all snow event IMO. For those of us on lower ground, it could be squeaky bum time but we'll see
  4. Glad to see you sharing your thoughts If and it's a big IF... The 18z upgrades things and is similar to last nights 18z, it will really make things interesting. I don't see any real changes now but it has happened in the past. Even a shift in the mild sector of 50 miles or so could be massive in an event like this.
  5. It hasn't happened yet though pal! Anyway, being at 205m, you stand a very decent chance of seeing a covering from this.
  6. No change there then for Shrewsbury!
  7. Downgrades at short notice used to bother me a lot, but not anymore. Sure i'm disappointed but over 10 years of following model runs has made me somewhat immune to it I never get my hopes up until it's at t6 or t12!
  8. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if it swung back in our favour again on the 18z run. I don't think any of the models have a clue with this event. It is a complicated event to nail down but it's annoying that it's changing in as short a timeframe as T36!!
  9. The NMM should stand for 'never mind mate'
  10. I find that the GFS is usually very accurate within a t48 timeframe, more so than the MET and Beeb forecasts. So many times, I have seen a BBC forecast for a snow event be completely wrong. I can count at least 4 times when they predicted 5-10cm to hit Leicester and it arrived as rain and sleet right from the start! Before those events, the GFS was rubbishing what the BBC forecasts were saying and they turned out to be correct. The BBC get their info from the Met Office, so whatever model runs the Met were going by at those times, they weren't too accurate!
  11. Yeah definitely. It's always better for snow prospects to have the 850's more towards -7 and below. I really think tomorrow night could surprise a few people though! From looking at the 06z run, if areas above 200m don't see an all snow event from this, I will be very surprised. Low ground is a bit of a worry but people on low ground are by no means out of it. If this was arriving in the Midlands slap bang in the middle of the day, it would be far more marginal. The fact it's arriving late evening/overnight is far better for chances of snow.
  12. You'd be surprised at what 850's of -3 and -4 can deliver. If the ground temps are cold enough and you have a bit of elevation on your side, it could be an all snow affair.I don't know why but this one event has always been stuck in my mind. Can't remember exactly what year it was, possibly 2008-2009. I remember the Birmingham area got pasted with about 3-4 inches of snow on a Sunday evening and Leicester saw a mix of sleet/wet snow that didn't settle. At the time, I was astonished because I was quite new to the models and at that time, I thought that snow wouldn't fall unless the 850's were -5 or lower. Well that evening, they were around -2! So if 3-4 inches can fall around Birmingham with those conditions, uppers of -4 aren't too worrying. The good thing is, the PPN arrives at prime time for snow lovers, overnight! Always seems to be more marginal if it arrives during the day.
  13. Absolutely mate! I was just talking about it in the Midlands thread. Incredivle run for us really. If it downgrades now, i'll be seriously annoyed!
  14. Haha!! Well, I had been posting only in the Midlands thread up until a few hours ago. Old habits die hard! Oxford is surely South Central though? Kennington is only 1-2 miles from Oxford itself
  15. Just had a butchers at the 18z. Anyone know who J.R from WWF/WWE is? Well that was my reaction when I saw the charts for Tuesday and Wednesday... "GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTYYY!!!" Haha. That is an insane run for the whole of the Midlands, Oxford included!
  16. Ahhh! There are some of us on here then Headington you say? My ex lives up there, Mark Road to be precise, haha.
  17. On the cycle ride home from work, I can confirm there was some snizzle here. Very light but it could be classed as snow nonetheless!
  18. What I would give to raise my house up to 300m ASL... *Looks on Ebay for some really high stilts*
  19. Whoooops! After posting in the Midlands thread all day, i've finally realised that a Central Southern thread exists! Any Oxfordites in here?
  20. The "into Leices/Notts" part must have been an error. We know that Leicester only ever gets more than 5cm of snow once every hundred years. The last time was December 2010. So the next decent snowfall in Leicester will be in approximately 95 years time
  21. Haha!! Exactly, you are like titchmarsh on ground force glad the business is going well. Yeah life down here is quite good actually. I prefer the quality of life in Oxfordshire to Leicester but the cost of living is a lot more!! Lmao! Same old same old.
  22. Duuuude!! Good to see you are still here still doing your gardening mr titchmarsh?
