  1. It's absolutely smashing it down with something now, it's deafening in this conservatory, sounds like either hail or heavy rain.
  2. Game over mate. Our temp 2 hours ago was 0.8c with a dew of -1.8c. It's now 0.8c but with a dew of -0.6c and it's nothing but rain with a hint of ice thrown in.
  3. How come you stayed in the Eastern counties thread when we had all the other snow events, but then come here when we have rain and you have snow?
  4. This is ridiculous lol, still rain here and i'm 90m ASL!
  5. I was sure it would end up like this. The NAE looked great for the West and Central Midlands but the GFS was having none of it. I had seen the GFS get it right in these borderline situations before when the BBC/Met-O were going for heavy snow here. The GFS got it right on more than 1 occasion when the NAE/UKMO were ramping it up. Sadly the NAE has got it wrong.
  6. Yep, just been in the garden, it's 80% rain and 20% ice pellets.
  7. I'm in the conservatory and it's definitely more rain than snow, I can hear it battering the roof!
  8. GFS currently has sleet down for Leicester/Nottingham and Derby for the moment, if you have the Net Weather precipitation overlay it shows that. NAE had us down for purely snow from start to finish with this band, GFS has it starting as sleet/snow for a start but turning to rain on the back edge.
  9. Looks like the NAE was wrong again in a marginal set up. I spoke of this last night but got shot down in flames for it, the GFS has proven once again that it's the model to listen to in marginal set ups like this.
  10. It seems that the GFS was right tonight, the NAE is proven wrong again in a marginal set up. NAE had snow as far West as Wales, the reality is... Hardly anyone in West Midlands has snow do they?
  11. Just had a moderate snow shower here, the radar does look a lot better than it did a few hours ago The current temp and dew point look good too, for now anyway. 0.8c here with a dew of -1.8c.
  12. Looks like Yorkshire could see 3-6 hours of HEAVY snow and Leicester will probably see about an hour at the most later on.
  13. This looks absolutely awful for Leicester and Northants. That heavy band of precip is heading SW to NE, leaving the big clear patch to come over us. What a let down. This could be the biggest let down i've ever seen.
  14. I really think the NAE has got this all wrong. It has some seriously low dew points for early Saturday morning, I really can't see these being accurate. -5 to -3 dew point for the West Midlands, -2 widely for Central England?! really can't see it myself. The GFS is predicting something a lot different... Granted the GFS has -2 dew points for some, but 0c dew point for the West Midlands compared to -5 that the NAE is predicting... That is quite a big difference.
  15. NAE looks decent, GFS still not having any of it though. My money is on the GFS.
  16. Yeah that was another event I remember! The event I was referring to happened in December 2008 or 2009 I think, I had a screenshot of the forecast they had just before the event with Jay Wynne standing next to the BBC charts with snow covering all of West and East Yorkshire, West Midlands, East Midlands, even Wales. Yet in the end nobody saw snow apart from above 300m in Yorkshire.
  17. What bothers me though Kev is that the Met/BBC have been wrong in these type of situations before. They made a major cock up a few years ago when they forecasted that it would snow over the whole of the West Midlands, East Midlands and north of the M4 in a similiar set up. The reality was... It arrived in Leicester around midnight and started as heavy rain and stayed that way. The only areas that saw snow were high ground in Yorkshire, so they got it quite badly wrong. That day the GFS was forecasting that no where in the West Midlands or East Midlands would see snow and it got it spot on. The NAE and UKMO were wrong. I think this will be the case again sadly.
  18. Doesnt look very good for a last big snowfall on Friday now. The gfs has been downgrading the snow potential for the last 3 runs. Ive never seen the gfs be wrong at close range when it comes to a rain or snow event. But I have seen the NAE get it wrong.
  19. No I missed it falling mate. When I left for work at 7am though I saw that we had got a fresh dusting I said yesterday that I thought we would just see rain on Friday but now I think the chances of us seeing some heavy snowfall, as one last hurrah for this cold spell, are increasing!
  20. I highly doubt it will, the wind direction isn't right for that to reach here
  21. Kmanmx, you should be getting pounded right now, radar has a bright echo over your area.
  22. Possibly! It's a very strange band of showers. It keeps switching between intensifying and dying down. It's very slow moving as well, the heavy blob that just left Leicester, pepped up about 5-10 miles South East of us. These showers will be localized but I wouldn't rule out a few lucky areas seeing a fresh 3cm tonight. We have around 2cm fresh snow here near Western Park, a few more showers and we will reach 3cm of fresh stuff!
  23. If you've typed in your post code you'll see how localized it really is! It's been stuck over my postcode LE36SH for about 40 mins now! Luckily for us it's really slow moving as well.
  24. You must have been on the bottom edge of the heavy part. It was very localized, Countesthorpe is about 8 miles South of Leicester isn't it? The main heavyness was over Leicester City itself. Lesta Snow... It's coming down quite fast again! It went really light a minute ago but now it's started up again
