  1. Dude, if you look at the GFS 18z then Newark would be lucky to see much, if anything. Even Leicester would struggle to get more than a dusting.
  2. For me the 18z is another downgrade. the band isnt as heavy over the Central and East Midlands and doesn't even make it as far as Lincoln. Another 50 miles West in the shift and its game over for me.
  3. Boooooo!! Hisssss!! Gerroff! Sling your 'ook! (Only messing)
  4. To be honest, if the threads stay the same i'll probably spend more time in this one because it's busier! The East Mids thread can become a bit dead at times, there's more members in the West Midlands!
  5. Looks favourite that East and West Midlands threads will remain seperate *finds stray cat in street* MIDLANDS THREAD BETTER MERGE BACK, OR THE CAT GETS IT
  6. *House of commons style* HEEREEE HERREEE! I do understand the point Polar Low makes to an extent but being in Leicester i'm between the East and West Midlands. Somewhere like Newark is borderline North East anyway. For people that live in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Northampton, we are classed as East Midlands but are very Central so we fall inbetween East and West.
  7. You a city fan then? Good news that the ECM is good for the East Midlands. I think we will know for sure by tomorrow morning what Friday will bring. If all the models are showing the band to make it as far as the Eastern side of the country then it will be ramp time for me!
  8. So far in January the Model runs have had more twists and turns than the Monaco F1 circuit! 6 days ago the GFS was consistently saying that mild Weather would be back by the middle of this week, then it changed it's mind, then the ECM thought about it but then changed it's mind too, the cold keeps being prolonged, makes a change to see upgrades!
  9. Brilliant! I'd be astonished if the whole of the West Midlands didn't see snow on Friday and Saturday now, in this set-up I wish we were a bit further West but we still have 3-5cm of snow laying on the grass around here so I can't complain. Would love more though, that's the problem with me, I love snow that much that if 5cm falls... I want 10cm! I get greedy for more I think most of us in here do.
  10. I just posted on the East Midlands thread about my thoughts on Friday's event, I don't think this is done and dusted for the Central/East Midlands yet. I'd say anywhere in a line from Birmingham/Staffordshire Westwards has a very very good chance now. A slight shift Westwards between now and Friday and Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and East Northamptonshire may still miss out.
  11. I'm still not convinced about Friday yet. The GFS 12z has moved the snow band a little further West again, it still looks like the East Midlands would see a period of light/moderate snow though, just not as much as the 06z was predicting. UKMO 12z still looks good though
  12. My house is just about on the very Eastern edge of the 10-15cm warning
  13. Good news! The 06z gfs has fallen in line with other models this morning and is now pushing the whole of the snow band across the country rather than stalling to the south west.
  14. Anyone else in the midlands having moderate snizzle at the moment?
  15. Just had 10 mins of snizzle and its still going. Not sure where this has come from!
  16. I think the mods need to merge them back again for the time being, I can understand why some people in the West Mids got cheesed off by seeing snow reports from the Central and East Midlands but I feel that in the long term, a split between West and East Midlands in the regional threads will make it boring!
  17. The 18z GFS shifts the PPN quite a bit further South Westwards, as it stands on that run... It would be the West Midlanders seeing all the fun while Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and North Warwickshire would miss out this time. If that happened I wouldn't be able to complain really. I'd be frustrated as hell if I missed out on a band of snow by 10-20 miles but I wouldn't begrudge you guys seeing some now.
  18. Just posted this in the East Midlands thread... Well, today has been good in terms of the snow lasting. The only places the snow has melted completely from is most of the roads and some pavements but on grass and sheltered areas the snow hasn't melted at all. When I saw the models this morning I was excited about what they were showing for Friday. I thought it would downgrade by the 12z but amazingly it's actually upgraded! I refuse to go into full on ramp mode about Friday until Thursday. If the models are still showing a battle ground scenario like they are currently... I will be chuffed! I wonder if we can get the Midlands thread as one again if that event for Friday remains on the cards? It will be much more exciting if they are merged again, the whole of the Midlands would be in for a good snow event IF what the GFS 12z is predicting actually happens.

  20. A few flurries about here in the last 30 mins, the snow we had yesterday has frozen over well abd isnt going anywhere fast with temps of 0.4c. id love that band of ppn over notts and derby to move south and give us another dusting on top of what we already have.
  21. Not sure they got it that spot on, last night they forecast that the 2nd band would be rain for Leicester but it was snow all the way through. They did get it right for the West Midlands though sadly.
  22. You must feel physically sick with today's outcome!
  23. Thank goodness that band moved away when it did! The temp has shot up to 1.8c now with a dew of 1.8c too. Definitely would have been rain with those temps!
  24. Did I mention that we have a covering of snow? (I'm deliberately being annoying because I can sense the sheer anger that the West Midlands didn't see much) Don't blame you guys though, I remember being seething when the West Midlands saw about 3-5 inches of snow a few years ago and we had a sugar dusting.
  25. What happened guys? Did a few people get jealous that the East Midlands was seeing snow and started wanting a West Midlands only thread?
